Re: Public Service Announcement

what sucks is when one of those pads pop out and you can't figure out why in the hell your car won't start, so you constantly jump it with a screwdriver on the starter, and then on the new years eve night you go through a check point and they make you shut off your car... yeah that was great...

Well you do have one on the brake pedal arm. I'm sure it actuates your brake lights. Does your car have a shift interlock (ie you have to push the brake pedal to get it out of park)?

Re: Public Service Announcement

I know this is an OLD F***in thread, but I gotta ask, If my car is in neutral, do I gotta press the clutch to turn it over?

I bought the car a couple weeks ago for $140, and it turned over when ther guy tryed it, but I try to start it, and I hear a click and nothing after. I am wondering if it's because I'm not pressing the clutch.

Yes. The only honda that I know that you don't have to press in the clutch to start is the preludes. But definitely for the civics you have to.

Re: Public Service Announcement

Uhh.. yeah.. I had a bone stock Civic LX... had no clutch switch.. I used to start it all the time w/o pressing in the clutch.. so that's bunk... SOME have them... I think 90-91 only.

If your car has it, and you don't press the clutch in, you won't hear a click or anything, it just won't do anything. Usually, if you hear a click and no cranking, it's either weak battery, engine seized (if it's a harsh click), or starter solenoid is weak/bad.

EDIT: The civic I had was an '88.. also had an 88 CRX HF w/ no switch.

That's sh!+ man...sorry. I went over to my car a couple hours ago and pushed in the clutch, it turned... kept turning it for about a minute. It roared on and stayed on for about 1:30mins. Not bad for a car that's been sitting for 3 years on grass without anyone even touching it! (appart from the occasionnal kids using it as a hotbox)

Re: Public Service Announcement

seriously, it shouldn't have even made a noise if you weren't engaging the clutch switch, b/c the switch cuts the connection from the key to the solenoid, which is what makes the clicking noise when you turn the key.

PM me and let me know what parts you need, i've got a bunch of stuff laying around, and about to get a bunch more the end of this month.
