Re: trying to program a ford keyless remote

Just for clarification on this old thread...

The GOH-M24 or GOH-3BFM2497 remotes with the Ford logo are technically aftermarket - made by Code Alarm for Ford.

Direct Link - http://originalkeyless.com/Ford-Keyl...te-GOH-M24.htm

These are the correct programming instructions for THOSE remotes:

1. Open driver's door and turn ignition to "ON" position

2. Locate the programming button on wiring harness pigtail, behind the left side of the center console (to the right of the gas pedal), next to the RKE module. (feel around under the plastic wall)

3. Press & Hold the button for 15 seconds. The horn will sound 3 times when it enters programming mode.

4. Press the lock button on the transmitter. The horn should sound once to confirm the transmitter. Repeat for any additional transmitters up to 4 max

5. Turn ignition to "OFF" and test transmitters.

Re: trying to program a ford keyless remote

HELP!

I have a 1996 Mercury Cougar XR7 4.6L

Recently my remote (FCC ID: GOH-M24) hasn't been working so I ordered another one. I dont know how to program my remote, I followed the instructions that you guys have placed but nothing seems to work. I located the button under my dash, i held it down for 15 seconds and the car doesnt go into programing mode. The switch i have located is connected to two brown wires. In order for me to start my car i have to have this button pressed down while i turn the ignition on, then the engine will turn over. I need to use the remote to unlock the car so it disables the starter lockout, Without my remote i always have to press this switch in while i start it (sort of annoying) Is this the right switch i have here or is there another one? I saw another person say that there's a harness i have to jump but i thought those were only for factory installed alarms... I have an alarm system that has been installed by ford AFTER the car was purchased. I'm not the first owner of the car so im not sure how it was hooked up or anything like that.

If you guys know something i don't know, please share your information

Thanks
Kyle

Re: trying to program a ford keyless remote

Try again, but make sure you are not pressing the brake at all during programming.

Also, are you sure the remote you have is functional and has a good battery?

Most Auto Parts stores have an RF tester that can tell you if the remote is responding.

Re: trying to program a ford keyless remote

Alright, I just went out and ensured that i wasn't hitting the brake pedal and I still got nothing. The car wont go into programming mode.

I checked the inline 20Amp fuse on the code alarm wiring harness with a fuse tester and it was fine.

I held the button down for 15 seconds and i got nothing either.
I turned the ignition to the on position and tried it, got nothing, Is there maybe another switch im supposed to be pressing down?

Thanks
Kyle
