Re: Re: Re: best color for a car

as far as I know black is the color that allows you to see the most mess-ups. black has been known to be one of the hardest colors to paint... especially for a first timer. if this is your first paint job i would recomend a dark green or medium dark blue. avoid the really glossy paint... maybe even go with a slightly pale yellow.

Re: Re: best color for a car

the Gold one was the my '94 Z28 that I just sold so that I could by the black one on top ('99 Z28). the green one with the cowl is my buddies '97 Z28, and the orange convertable is his wifes (but she just sold that too). If you have a chance check out my web page. It has a lot of good pics: www.cardomain.com/id/94camaro_z28 .... remember to vote "I Like It"

94CamaroZ28 is right. black will show every flaw right down sanding marks. being a first timer, i'd stick with lighter colors like yellow, white, silver etc. reason being is that you'll probly get a few light spots here and there, and maybe a run or two and lighter colors will hide it better.

black is one of the hardest colors to paint, and red is one of the most expensive. anything with red pigments will cost more.

just a few tips: use lots and lots of light, you'll try to paint shadows if ya dont, and you'll get runs. use full strokes all the way across the car. point the spray gun down just a little bit to reduce overspray. if ya can, get a HVLP spray gun, takes less pressure and reduces overspray. set the gun to spray a fine mist, but yet still covering plenty of area. too much paint coming out of the gun will cause an orange peal look. and spray a test peice first to get your gun set up, like a piece sheet metal, your neighbors car, a box etc.

oh and wear a mask, acrylics are very hard on the lungs

Re: best color for a car

my brothers trans am was repainted black by my uncle and you can see every little sandmark, also you will have to do some wetsanding on it and give it several more coats. i believe the silver will work for your car as well, looks really sharp
