Re: Most gas you've EVER got in your tank?

I only put 4-5 gallons in at a time... I get gas maybe twice a week unless I put my foot into it on a drive.

Re: Most gas you've EVER got in your tank?

I have to fill up around every 200-210, unless I am driving far, then I can go forever.

I run the "store" brand of gas treatment from walmart in the hatchback, cant think of the name of it at the moment, but its the .88 cent bootleg of the stp stuff.Anyway,I run it every tank full, and can tell a big difference in gas mileage when I forget to buy some and dont use it,with it I get 38-40,best I've got since I bought the car has been 41.9 on the interstate. Most fuel put in has been 11.2.

My mom just messed up her new celica doing that 'cause of the hurricane she tried to get every little bit in there then her car wouldn't start. LOL

Re: Most gas you've EVER got in your tank?

its true could also ruine your fuel pump by doing that....specially sense its fuel injected only on carb. you can gas it all the way up cause not gonna make a diff....

You need to add 3.5 miles for every hundred that you travel, so that's about 414 miles total divided by 11.7 gives you just over 35mpg....

I fill up every four days around 9.5 gallons at 330 miles which puts me at 34mpg.... the most i ever put in was 11.5 when i forgot to get gas and i heard my fuel pump buzzing under my back seat and i was at 418 miles.

Re: Most gas you've EVER got in your tank?

I followed my parents to Seattle a while ago, and after they got in town, went to my sisters then back to where we were staying, they had gone 200 miles. I had done my own driving around town, showed my bro my new ricer that he loves to hate... I'm not sure how far I actually went becuz my speedo doesnt work. But I went farther than my parents did, and I hadn't even used a 1/2 tank. Filled it up, and we figured i got at least 45 mpg. I've got a dx with catback exhaust and intake. Did they come stock with a 4 speed manual? Cuz thats what i have...

if its a 4 speed then you dont have a dx you have an std. which is the standard civic, lower than the dx. you have less power than the dx also.

Re: Most gas you've EVER got in your tank?

I get around 245 miles with only a quarter of a tank left. I've never really went below that before I fill her up. And is it safe to fill it up all the way until it clicks and then try to round off the money to say the nearest .25 cents. Cause I go over a good bit till it won't pump no more. Would that explain why my gas guage is right half the time and not the other time.

In the old days the gas tank vented to the atmosphere and any excess liquid gasoline and vapor would just get out though the pin hole in the cap.

Now the gas cap/tank are sealed to reduce pollution and the vapors are vented to the evaporative canister where charcoal particles absorb the vapor and eventually vent the vapors to the engine to be burned. If the tank is full to the top the liquid gas will make it's way into your evaporative canister, screw up the system, pollute more, probably turn on the MIL, and cost a bunch of money to replace the canister (a new one goes for about $150 to $180 (much less with a junkyard unit)).

Gasoline is a liquid that will expand when warmed up. If the tank is filled to the "brim" where is the warm expanding gasoline gonna go? Say it with me now: "Anywhere it can".

Please do us all a favor and know what your talking about before you post.

Re: Most gas you've EVER got in your tank?

The most I've ever put in my tank is 12.2 gallons (yes, I know the tanks are only 11.6 ) and the farthest I've gone is about 440 miles on one tank...with the gauge hovering below the line of "E" but still above the letter - I ran out in my 85 Civic at 457 miles, but the gauge was still reading above empty....that figured out to be about 38 MPG with the old 1.5 carbed engine.
I have no clue about you damn Brits & Canadians and your litres - - that screwed me up in Aruba when buying fuel for the rental. I thought I was gonna spend $25 on like 5 gallons (21 litres??), but it ended up being about $12. - I had to convert not only gallons to litres, but also US dollars to Aruba dollars - it ended up being about $2.35/gal, which isn't too bad for some isloated Caribbean island.
I've been averaging 31-33 MPG, while also burning about a quart of oil every 1100-1200 miles. The best mileage I got was when the car was new to me (9 years ago) was about 40.6 MPG - it was pretty cool to pull into a gas station with 400 miles on it and only put in 10 gallons
