jc - don't tell people to STFU in here - it's just uncalled for.

The rest of the points you made are just too convoluted to even begin to reply to.

So, you've managed to drag a thread an impossible distance away from the original topic, and attempt to incite a flame-fest because someone with obviously quite a bit of knowledge questioned your logic. If that's the way you're going to be, I'd respectfully request you choose not to use the posting buttons in this forum any longer. We just don't need that here.

He didn't call you an idiot though....

He said that people who think wings make a car faster - meaning "ACCELERATION" - are idiots. If you aren't one of those people (and some of your comments left me wondering if you might be) then you have nothing to worry about.

I have an idea, let's just drop it.

The Brunei Royal Family does own a ridiculous mansion in the Beverly Hills area, but the Sultan doesn't really live there.

As for the GTR, it's the Hitotsuyama car - the one that more recently wore the YellowCorn sponsorship. It is GTR #25R.

GTR #25R is still in Japan - you are correct though, its no longer competing. Towards the end of it's life, it wasn't all that competitive against the other turbo cars in the GT500 class.

Re: Locations?

Well, I have to say you're both right and wrong folks! Spoilers generally serve the purpose of having the car to act in a desired way, usually the cars are slowed down in exchange of better handling and performance. BUT it is also possible to make a car FASTER using help from aerodynamics combined with spoilers for braking air resistance more effectivly and generate higer speeds!
I also think you hammered jc quite a bit here, it obvious some of us have great knowledge in cars and circumstances around them. However I sometimes think that the knowledge is beeing used to make other members seem like raving idiots!
Jc was simply asking a question and "dreaming" a little (as we all do from time to time), he was wrong in this discussion, but on the other hand he makes some points and wished only to disuss, not argue!
Sadly he gets upset when people hammers down his replys and uses the WTF, that is not OK, but I think he has done alot to keep this an enjoyable forum and think we all should just forget that remark as I sure it was posted in affection.

Re: Re: Locations?

Thanks man

But do you have to sacrifice 1 for the other (topend for handleing)
Why not just have an automatic spoiler that controls the downforce settings that is controlld from inside the vehicle?

Re: Locations?

Since this thread is already so far OT...

Regulations for just about every major racing series worldwide prohibit moveable aerodynamic devices. THe exceptions that I know of are Super Modifieds and World of Outlaws Sprint Cars. This was primarily as a result of the Chapparal Can-Am cars dominating in the mid to late 60's with a wing that did exactly what is being referred to.

Some of the Porsche 993's and 996's actually had the opposite, a wing that deployed at a certain speed (I believe it was around 60 MPH, not certain) for added stability at high speeds.
