Re: Cleaning EGR Valve HELP

Alright so here's the plan:

Since the injectors come out with the fuel rail, I need to hold them down and pull on the fuel rail until each of them slide off. After I'm done, I just simple slide it back on to the injectors, place the connector back on them, and bolt it back down.

But here's a quick question:

Each time I pull an injector from the rail, alot of gas is spilled. This happens with each injector. I don't understand this because I released the pressure by doing the gas cap thing and using the service nut. I just need to know if these gas spills can hurt anything if not cleaned up because sometimes it's very hard to get to.

BTW, Thanks alot for all the help!

Re: Re: Cleaning EGR Valve HELP

No the gas wont hurt anything. As long as you get the majority of it up. The rest will evaporate pretty quick. And you are welcome for the help. I will be gone out of town this afternoon and wont be back until tomorrow. So after this next hour or so, I'll be unreachable. Hope you have gotten far enough along to handle it from here. If not, I'll try and check back in tomorrow.

Re: Cleaning EGR Valve HELP

As it seems now, it seems like just getting to the EGR valve is the hardest part of the whole process. I've removed the fuel rail and everything but guess what? Now the nut I was getting to has been rounded off. I went to auto zone and got a nut buster but it won't fit! Just my luck. I'll need to figure out to get this damn nut off.

Re: Cleaning EGR Valve HELP

Okay I need major help now, everything is done I was left looking at a washer. I have an idea of where it goes, but I'm going to ask first. Is there a washer under where the fuel feed bolts into the fuel rail? I didn't think anything of it until I tried starting the car and gas came squirting out from both sides. Any help would be GREAT!

Re: Cleaning EGR Valve HELP

Okay when it says to turn the key to ON to build up fuel pressure, will you be able to hear anything? Because I did it, but didn't hear anything. Then tried to start the car and it just shot fuel out.

Re: Cleaning EGR Valve HELP

Yes, that is where the washer goes. And you have to turn the ignition switch on and let it sit for a second, turn it off and repeat a few times. And you should barely hear your fuel pump engage, but it is very quiet so you may not hear it.
