Re: saw a skyline r32

I was driving behind a metallic purple skyline today back from uni.

It was pretty nice. Custom everything (because that's what you do to a skyline), custom tail lights, exhaust, spoiler, body kit, front spoiler, bonet, foor, mirrors, shit - even the badge.

took this pic a week ago.
I parked next to this skyline when I was getting my tires replaced

I am from Florida, but I went on a Cruise that made a stop in Grand Cayman Island and I almost had a heart attack when I saw Right Side Steering Wheel Skyline in oncomming traffic. That is my dream car...

lol, i cna't believe all the commotion over a skyline I'm aussie too and like Davo said, skylines, wrx's, supras and jap performance cars are all over the place.....

I've been living in the United Arab Emirates for the last 3 years and exotics are all over the place. we got skylines everywhere here, hell my neighbour has one, but the most common cars on the road are mercedes's and we have maaaaaaany ferrari's, Hummers, BMW 6 series, lamborghinis, porsches a few bentleys and even a couple of Maybach's ehre and there.

No wrx's though and no nice old school american mucle cars which are my favourite.

Like Davo said, it's kinda hard for us to imagine the fuss over skylines here in Aus. They're amazing cars but just so common that I only really get excited if I spot an R34 GT-R - where I am in Brisbane I've only seen 3 of those in the last three or four years.
In about four weeks I'm buying an R33 GT-St....I'd love a GT-R but they're out of my budget at this point....actually there is one R32 GT-R for sale in Sydney for $19k which is about the cheapest I've ever seen a GT-R but I'd be willing to bet it's been thrashed a bit and even affording the car itself, I could never afford the maintenance....oh well, one day. Is the 2005 Mustang on the road yet? That's a sweet car that we don't get here...

I don't really like the '05 stangs. They'll probably grow on me though. I've seen a couple on the road.

Re: saw a skyline r32

Its really not that special. You can see them everyday in Hong Kong. Most people choose either the Mitsubishi Lancer EVO 5,6,7 or 8, the Nissan Skyline R34's, Lexuz IS200 and IS300 (Altezza's), Nissan Silvia (S15 only) or Subaru Legacy's to race for some reason. They cost just a bit more than a Toyota Camry, and they are much cheaper than a Mercedes Benz. However, I do miss seeing them.

P.s. In Hong Kong, its illegal to do ANY type of performance modifications. The first ticket you get would be approximately $750 USD. However, you are allowed to have your under-car lights on whenever you want.

Yea, its sad but people still do it. Basically all the mods you are allowed to do on your car is a bodykit, wheels and tires, undercar neons, a spoiler, paint, and I think a exhaust tip (not an exhaust system). So basically all the rice mods. People still do illegal mods to their cars though. If you were found with a bottle of nitrous, oh man...you're fucked up. Its sad, you see all these high potential cars but you're not allowed to put any mods performancewise on them.

The reason?? Theres alot of streetracers in Hong Kong. There'll be a race anytime anywhere. When I was in Hong Kong last summer, you would see ricer-flybys during prime-time, anywhere from 6:00PM to 3:00 AM. My uncle raced a Skyline before in his Toyota Camry. He got whopped BIG TIME.

I've also seen two Ferrari F360 Modenas race each other before, after school one day. One was yellow, other one was silver. Both launched on green. God the engine(s) sounded awesome in high RPM.

They're still well out of my price range at this stage...I've been working two summer jobs and with those completed plus the sale of my current car I should have about $19-20k. R34 GT-Ts start at about $27-29k for the four-door (which I don't like) and about $36k for the coupe. You can start getting R32 GT-Rs around $25k usually and up at $36k you're about at (the lower end of) R33 GT-R price territory.
R34s are still somewhat of a rarity here, probably because of the relative price compared to other cars causing less to be imported...hopefully in a couple of years time there will be more around and the prices will start to drop.
As a comparison, a '97 R33 GT-St series II is about 17-20k in a private sale, wheras a 98+ R34 GT-T coupe is as I said around twice that.

I saw a very very nice R33 at a Wawa once. I think it was some sort of company car though (performance parts company of course).
