Re: Can i swap a Nissan Sr20det motor into a 1995 honda civic?
I have two friends with SR20's in their 240's. An impressive motor nonetheless. But I'm gonna say thumbs down on the swap into the Civic. Just not worth the money IMO. For the same cost, you could have a just-as-fast if not faster Honda motor.

using a FWD bluebird motor yes you can i've seen it at a show with my own 2 eyes few times on the net.
and Ford never made a 350. i think it would be alot of work but worth it esp figuring how beastly the SR can be |

Probably a Chevy engine. Still impressive though; wonder how much they had to strip out to get it to fit...

ha ha ha yeah CI - sorry, it was the end of the day for me and my brain wasn't functioning fully. LOL
It sounds like you guys are talking about the same engine I meant; so did Ford actually end up using that 351? If drivers on the streets around here are any evidence, they sure as hell don't put them in any Mustangs I've ever seen.

Re: Can i swap a Nissan Sr20det motor into a 1995 honda civic?
Oh, okay. The older ones. The 10 cyl engine I'm thinking of was developed within the last 2 or 3 years, but I guess they just did it for grins.
Yeah, I don't go into the Ford forum. I'd have to shower with steel wool afterwards. : )

Re: Re: Can i swap a Nissan Sr20det motor into a 1995 honda civic?
ok i dont care how much money this kid thinks he has, its not enough to put in a rwd drivetrain in a civic. if he is considering putting in the fwd sr20 motor then it is possible but it would be a very special project that would require custom engine mounts and wire harness. i dont think this is something just any shop can do. and even with the fwd version, it would be very difficult to fit and would still more than likely cost more money then you have available. i would say this would run at the very least 10 grand and this is with a completely stock sr20 motor. try building it and the tally will go way up. want to be unique? get a k series motor swap. yah its been done but still very rare. my friend will be having one done in the very near future. i know of 2 other cars like this in this region and thats damn unique for southern california.

there was an article in Sport Compact Car about a group that did a really georgous swap of a Cobra SVT engine into a Focus SVT... apparently, it was balls-to-the-wall powerful, but also cost WAY more then the Cobra SVT does from the showroom floor. apparently, they sell kits to do it, for (i think) like $26k, not including body or engine/transmission. scaaaary.
know what i'd like to see? an AWD civic. from what i've seen it's possible, it just requires assloads of work.

seriously, i know a kid who's dad and him put a 305 into a neon so anything is possible. it was fwd and actually worked well. honestly tho, why not just keep the family of honda engines? nothing is better than hearing an h22 rip into vtec. that noise i hear in my sleep. who would want to lose that? u dunno, just a rant. unique is head turning too... happy building. wallet wont be happy...

Re: Can i swap a Nissan Sr20det motor into a 1995 honda civic?
Civic wagons had AWD in the 80s. Didn't catch on, for whatever reason. Or maybe Honda ditched it in favor of better gas mileage.
