umm, yeah you might. GM is coming out with a 502 block on the 2003 Silverado(or Sierra) HD. And its only pushing 377 HP. Displacement helps to make lots more tourque but you need more than just displacement to make horespower you need efficiancy(spelling????). You need to breathe easily in all directions in and out and you need to burn the fuel as equally as possible.

if it is a built 460 bored out to almost five hundred, it is prolly built to the hilt w/ hi po parts, if it exists. (doubt that).
there are much smaller motors that can push 640hp n/a.
that 502 is so damn detuned. come on...
like a built 460 is stock? we arent talkin stock numbers. there was a concept 502 truck that put down 500 some odd n/a hp. if you cant make at least 1 hp / cubic inch n/a, dont build it.
however, if your only mod is a turbo then you i see what you mean. he said that he had a 460 bored almost 500cid. that doesnt sound stock.

I see what your saying. And its a 501.2873 block not a bored/stroked 460. The point of that engine though was that its in the HD(Heavy Duty) vehicle. It was not made for horsepower but more so it was made for torque. Its a hauling/towing and work truck. It was tuned to pull lots of weight. Im just saying with head/cam and exhaust im more than sure that engine could be producing some very large HP numbers. It has lots of potential is what i meant.

so, reprogram the chip in the 502 chev, and you get a magical extra 20ish hp... headers and exh and intake, another 40ish... see how much fun this is? get rid of factory restrictive shiet, and put the right parts on, and that motor can put out almost 500 w/ minor mods...

yeah, but its capable of so much more. All it needs is to get a coates cylinder head design with NO camshaft, and NO valvetrain(im not joking it exits) and that 502 or 460 would be capable of spinning 14,750 RPM(no misprint either i checked) and make well over 600 H.P. without forced induction or piston work. Ha ha I cant wait until I am able to order a coates engine. For any disbelivers go here:

why dint you do that up front?
and, yes they are capable of that with your wild mod idea, but you dont need those to realize that much power... they are just one way to get there. simple mods can get you there in a highly detuned motor, which i am sure that 502 is that you want...

2003 Silverado with a 502 making 377 hp, but I'd guess over 500 ft lbs of torque at 2500 rpm.. in a pickup designed to pull and haul 10,000 lbs your not that worried about how much hp you can make, but you desperately need as much torque as you can get.

This is why a long haul semi will be rated at 400 hp but 900-1200 ft lbs of torque..

a lincoln weighs only a bit more, comparatively speaking(basically it is not like the diff b/n a viper and an rx7), than a viper...
a lincoln could also conceivably beat a viper...
and i would put money on it...
it would cost more than a viper, but hell, it can be done... you can make anything fast and handle... a lincoln is no exception... and i dont mean a tube chassis w/ a lincoln body.

I know that a Ford lincoln can beat a viper. my father drag races a 1985 to be exact! And it is a funny sight to see a Lincoln smoke tires all the way down a 1/4 mi.. I know this sounds a myth but i will take pics of his car and post them or mail them to who would like to see just to show you want a beef'd up Lincoln looks like.last yr he was pullin a 13.97.
But I will admit that if a viper owner put a lil money into his car he would be able to pull a better qt'r!!

I think the guy with the lincoln may be talking out of his ass. Besides, my question is this: If you decide to dump that much money into hooping up a car, why in the hell would you choose a big, heavy Lincoln? If we are to beleive this, we definately need some sensible 1/4 mile times and mod explanations. ONe other thing- I hope that the guy with the Honda was joking. What is the deal with people getting civics, putting an intake and an exhaust tips larger than the combined diameters of all four manifold pipes, and then thinking they are driving performance icons? I get so sick of going to the dragstrip and seeing civics covered in graphics spitting out 1/4 mile times in the high fourteens, fifteens, and sixteens. If you shit your pants over the idea of a high 14 second civic, you obviously have never driven an actual performance car. Then, we have some dweeb who comes on and tells a guy in a (supposed) 650+ horsepower Lincoln that he could outrun him. Someone please shoot me. I can't take it anymore.

OK so why would I talk out my ass about such a thing? And in Colorado where i live Vipers dont do a 1/4 in about 12.6s...... I will get pics to prove I have nothing to hide.. And if i can get pics from the drag strip I will pay someone to scan them and put them on a disk or online! It is funny how some peeps can get so pissie about this I think it is great that of all cars in the world a Linclon Versie (spell) is a SLEEPER!! And futher more I will find out all the specs Monday and post them monday or tuesday night after work! If I am able to take pics of the car tomarrow I will goto TARGET and send them off to be devloped but it wont be till Wensday or Thursday when I get them back cuz I will request them on cd.. No one I know dose 1hr advantix on disk!!!!!
