I did the UPS thing for a summer. Yeah alls you do is lift boxes, but doing that 4 or 5 hrs everyday gets boring really fast! I mean you have a partner and if hes cool time could go by better, but its so freakin repetative it could drive u crazy. On the plus it did pay better than most jobs, and you can get ripped pretty easily from being in a freakin hot warehouse all day and lifting 45 lb packages

whatever you do make sure its fun/interesting to you cause if it's not, no matter how much you're getting paid, you wont be there long.

Re: suggestions on a job

if you're only 17 DO NOT get a job at a unionized store. if you're under 18 the union does absolutely nothing but take money out of all of your paychecks. if you're looking to start saving for college, get a bank account. that's what i did and i have a decent load of money.

as far as where to get a job, grocery stores are alright although dealing with stupid people is never fun. i'd look into an oil change place or auto zone or something

whoa where do you live in kansas, im in johnson county...

anyways, you all in california get paid a shitload more because of the cost of living out here, my friend works in a supermarket and gets paid minimum wage (which is fine for him because he just tokes up and does nothing)
I think im gonna get a job at a different restaurant with better hours until im 18 and old enough to be a server because servers make some serious cash with tips.

Re: suggestions on a job

Haha, I live in KS too. If your'e 18 I would definately recommend pizza delivery. I drive for Pizza Hut and almost all of my shifts start at 5 so that would work well with your school schedule. Plus by the time I get my wages check I've already payed all of my bills (tuition included) with tip money. I made $120 in tips last friday night, 4:00 pm to 1:00 am. There is a book for next semester!
