Re: Le Mans Contest Entry: 1950 Jaguar XK120
Your making excellent progress with the body mods, where will you get the fuel filler cap from? Dunno about the wheels, nobody wants to make basic steel wheels properly it seems. Maybe some old Revell kit may have plain rims in it
![]() Old street Jaguars have an ivory shade to their white, I don't know if the racing colour was the same. You might want to try Tamiya's Racing White which is supposed to be the right shade of off white for the '60's F1 Hondas. Maybe some ratio of the two airbrushed would look the business. |

I'd say try the Racing White (an ivory color) over white primer. hth

Re: Le Mans Contest Entry: 1950 Jaguar XK120
That story may be true Bill. Another twist: maybe Racing White was intended for the 1/12th RA273 that has been around longer than just about anything?

Re: Le Mans Contest Entry: 1950 Jaguar XK120
Nice to see this one is on the way Olivier.
![]() I totally agree with Phil. My advice is to use Racing White over White Primer to achieve the correct colour. I used Pure White over Grey Primer in two models and the result was far from the satisfactory. Nothing best than test to see if it is the tonality you are searching for. Good luck. |

![]() Little update, I did all the body mods, just need to fix the hood's curve and then it will be ready, I just painted it recently, and next to the car you see some rims I made for it. They re based on the AMT Chevy 57 kit, and seem to be looking fine. Around those rims I put some widening from the original box, so it looks fine in size. Thanks all for looking and for the nice replies. Olivier |

Re: Le Mans Contest Entry: 1950 Jaguar XK120
Hehe, thanks thanks !
The wheels might not be 100% correct, but can you always be spot on ? Well, I can't but hey, if something isn't 100% right, that doesn't mean it's ugly! Thanks for the nice reply, Phil Oli |

Re: Le Mans Contest Entry: 1950 Jaguar XK120
Well, just for the sake of telling a story, here is another pointless update.
This update tells the bloody story of cutting out the stock seats, and sanding the interior parts flush (as they have a carpet texture on them) I cut out the seats, put a flat floor and a back wall of styrene on. As you might see, the next thing is to close the tranny tunnel, and to put in some more accurate seats in it (the ones from the Jaguar MK2 kit) The ones that are in it now, are some first-coated Mercedes seats, just to have a nicer view. Otherwise everything has been made to fit correctly now (don't forget this is a kit from '79 and it shows. OH yeah, and the paint on the body is Racing white, forgot to mention, Lambrusco ![]() ![]() Oli EDIT Got the tunnel done... Little together pic... Last edited by bigfrit; 11-23-2004 at 06:24 PM. |
