Umm...you are aware that the 1992 LS had a B18A and not a B18B right?

Ok you say you have the "frankenstein" engine. But what all have you done? What suspension mods? What about weight? What wheels and tires? What have you done to your bottom end? How much HP are you pushing? I don't believe that for under $3,000 you hit 12.8s.....or is the 1/8th mile??:sun:

I recently bought a '99 GS Integ. I don't want to do the vtec hybrid thing either, revving past 9 grand just doesnt seem right. How would one get 220 hp out of an ls motor with a stock bottom end, no vtec, and no turbo? Tell me, cause I need to start doing some research before I put too many miles on my engine (got 16,300 miles on it as of today).

so basically what you are asking is how can you make an extra 80 HP without changing anything. it's not possible.

In response to hybridDC2:

relax dude, you don't have to be so blunt, I'm not an idiot. I was just reffering to the quote left by
b18lscivicracer : "ALL MOTOR LS that was putting out i think 220 somthing hp and not much dont to the bottom end and the compression ratio was very low and the ting is that it was in a 96 rs body ummm that goes too show people dont know what their talking about they just read too many books..."
It sounds to me like he's saying it is possible to get lots of hp out of the motor without beefing up the bottom end too much. I was doubting it, so I wanted some supporting evidence, thats all. Personally, I want to be able to run mid to low 14's reliably as a daily driver in my Teg. Thats all I need, that would suit me just fine. I want to know what my options are, and so far, spending countless hours on the net doing research, checking out other peoples rides, I've decided a low boost turbo application is the best way to go. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I like my car, but I am not willing to spend over 4 grand on upgrading the engine, I would rather just by another car, whereas with my '93 MR2 that I loved, I was willing to shell out the big bucks for a turbo engine swap, but too bad that cars gone now (some shitface wrecked it). Anyway, you seem to be making comments such as
"so basically what you are asking is how can you make an extra 80 HP without changing anything. it's not possible,"
can you please elaborate on how to make good hp out of the ls motor, without vtec'ing it?

Juicing a B18A or B18B all-motor...

Okay... let's lay this out:
* Make-your-own cold air intake ($30)
* bigger headers (perhaps from a B18C1? I don't know jack about the exhaust headers on a B18A/B) ($100 to buy used b18c1's)
* high-flow cat-back (have it custom made, save money), 2.25" should be fine ($175 w/ muffler)
* Custom forged rods (http://www.theoldone.com/components/rods/B18_rods.html) ($365)
* High compression pistons (ITR 2000/2001 JDM 11.2:1, so it's still a decent daily driver) ($500)
* Aggressive camhaft profiles ($750?)
* adjustable cam gears, any brand ($200)
* underdrive pulleys ($350 direct from unorthodox)
* lightened flywheel (11 lbs) ($75, see http://www.sohfast.com/integra.htm)
* At least a Stage II clutch ($500?)

* Consider valves/springs/retainer replacement
* ECU mod with higher redline (8000-8200 rpm), since these mods should lead to a much better high-rpm power response ($??? around 500?)
* VERY Extensive tuning

This adds up to around $3500. a lot of money, but It'd be possible to get a B18A/B near 180whp with this work.

There should be a number of things that can be done cheaper than I've listed, and the ECU mod might not be necessary. I'd consider it the lowest-priority mod in building up an all-motor B18A/B. It won't see gains like the B18C's see.

My friend has a 92 ls and he runs 14.20's and 14.30's all motor. He has stock bottom end also. He has crower 62404 cams, aem cam gears, chipped ecu, your usual I/H/E and test pipe, also the power sterring system has nbeen removed and a/c also. He ran these times with srock clutch and street tires on stock 14" steelies. I am currently tring to buy the cams off of him b/c he is going turbo. To all who say the b18b/a is worthless this is for you:finger: .

Marasmus,

The b18c1 exhaust manifold will not fit your car. It will bolt up to the head but it is longer and has no bung for the O2 sensor.

Re: b18b build up

Im doing an LS build up the reason i am doing it is for the turbo, if you want 180-200 hp without a turbo then you well spend a hell of a lot of money trust me i looked. but if u want to buy a turbo then frankenstein it or keep the normal LS but go with the VTEC if u dont want a turbo
