I Didn't say much negative. I stated my opinion on them and didn't bash on them at all. Thank's losingx for trying to clear some of that up. You also cannot argue that both civic's and cavalier's are not massivly popular and everyone seem's to have one.

If you would like to show me how much faster your cavlier is than my "civic" I would be happy to race and if your not anywhere close then you can take it to the track and we can compare time's. Although my car is nothing to waive a stick at I have only spent around 2,350$ on it including the car itself and it run's decent time's for that money and they will surely fall with just the addition of better tire's.

Thank you to all who tried to answer my question.

Re: ecotec or twin cam?

perhaps you have misunderstood my "civic" comment. your civic may be very nice and plenty fast. i don't doubt that for a second. but if we're talking stock engines, which i thought we were, civics have nothing on cavaliers. i think i've done enough "research" to know that much! thus my response to saying you haven't raced a cavalier that's given you a challenge. if you want to know about cavy engines and post a thread, you don't need to say anything about how you don't like them. just ask your question. sorry to anyone who is affended by me standin up for cavaliers.

Re: ecotec or twin cam?

Even when I had my stock motor in my stock hatchback when I had a hatchback I would pull on cavalier's anyway.

hell even when I drove a stock 1993 civic lx 4 door with 250,000 mile's on the motor I could keep dead even with brand new ls sport cavalier's with the ecotec.

Re: ecotec or twin cam?

Yea maybe a 2.2 cav... but not a z cav then only time you will pull away from a z is if you hit over 110. and the person in the z doesnt have his govener taken off

Re: ecotec or twin cam?

Now where talking stock... but with small mods.. the z will pull more power, i have done alot of research and the 2.4 twin cam has one of the most tuning potential than any other small compact car import or domestic.

Re: ecotec or twin cam?

i don't know who was drivin the cavy's you were racing, but they must not have known what they were doin. i have a 2.2 bone stock (as far as the engine is concerned) and it's not the fastest car in the world by any means, but i've never lost to a stock civic.

thye eco will with mods listed. they are under rated and very restricted from the factory. not to say the 2.4 twin cam is a slug but the eco is just better. just restricted a lot. if we ever get tuning software you will see some real quick all motor eco's you guys should drive each others cars and then you will see! and feel that top end charge of an un corked eco.

Re: ecotec or twin cam?

nova racer stop being such a fan boy. Im so sick of hearing all the ecotec owners always saying, yeah well my car will respond better to mods, my car will tune better, my car can be a better engine, shut the fuck up. If your car isnt beating the Ld9 engine right now, i dont care. The LD9 has more power at a lower RPM, off the line its a hard car to beat. And further more as much as you want your car to be a Z24 its not, and the ecotecs are not under rated at all.

Everyone always says the ecotec is a better engine cause they switched over to it, if the ecotec is so good howcome once the ecotec engine was put into the car, GM cancelled the line up after 3 years? Yet the LD9 had 8 years in the car 94-02. Hmmm. . . .

heres what it has to do with, they were using the 2.4 for 8 years before they decided to use the ecotech, but even when the ecotec came out that was the last year for the z, the cavi with the eco only had three years running, not to succesful.
