What, no mention of Taxi? (The French film, not the sitcom) Or how about the HK film The Legend of Speed? (WRX vs Lancer: mmmmm!)

I dont think that most here have seen Taxi. To my knowledge it only came out in french. I saw it when I was in Japan; so I saw it with french dialog and Japanese subtitles. Still a cool movie though!

Check the link in my sig for photos... Ok for the specs: 8 cylinders , discplacement 4172 cm3, DOHC , 4 valves per cylinder 367 Hp by 6600 Obr/min(dyno results) Torque 430 Nm by 3400 Obr/min(dyno results) 87 hp / liter Weight around 1750 kg (it would be around 2000 if not the aluminium body) 90L tank (she likes to drink a lot) Lenght: 5030 mm Width : 1880 mm Height : 1420 mm Acceleration: around 6.3 to 100kph which would give a flat 6 or 6.1 to 60 mph (damn automatic transmission) Top speed: real-282 km/h (290 on the speedo) It has 5-speed tiprtonic , when i was buying it i thought that it would be better since i have a porsche to play with , but now i would like the 6-speed more... As for mods i have in plans: mtm exhaust movitporsche front brakes I was thinking of mtm supercherger too , but it think i'll change it for the new model with 6-speed and then put the supercharger in and have 475hp... I dunno , i also like the new A8 W12... We'll see... |

Gran Prix is the one and only accurate depiction of motor racing that does not follow an actual race. The cinematography has yet to be equaled, and the acting was at both times flawlessly polished and perfectly human. The cast of actual F1 drivers will never be matched (Jochen Rindt, Graham Hill, Phil Hill, Denny Hulme, Jim Clark, Bruce Mclaren and many others) and James Garner did all of his own driving in the film, which was filmed at speed. Just the Monaco sequence at the beginning makes Gran Prix worth watching. It is simply, the greatest car movie ever.
The original Gone in Sixty Seconds is second. A distant third, American Graffiti. That's how street racing should be represented. Plus it's George Lucas when he didn't suck. (KILL JAR JAR)

I vote for entertainment value. From the list above I go with Cannonball Run. The rest were not nearly as fun to watch.

Jeez, I was socialized by the Cannonball Run, Speed Zone & Smokey/Bandit movies. (BTW, if anybody wants the scoop on an upcoming gumball rally...)
Vanishing Point is definitely a religious experience. Bullitt had its moments, but then again, so did the Blues Brothers - (what do YOU think of every time you walk through a mall?) The list grows: - Rendezvous: (aka Getaway in Paris. Got an mpeg of it...mmmm....) - Stroker Ace: (Burt Reynolds in NASCAR...about as accurate/serious as Days of Thunder, lol. Not a big fan, but some DOThunder & Smokey fans might like it.) - The Racing Scene: (Very rare, showed on Speedvision back in the day a couple times. James Garner documentary about racing in the '70's. Great footage. Makes Grand Prix look like Cannonball Run.) Did we already get LeMans? That movie's the best...a DVD buy, no doubt.
