Re: SE-R vs 3000GT
what does a se-r spec v run on the 1/4? the sl usually runs mid to low 15s. now in looks there is no comparison.imo 4 door cars are ugly.

Re: SE-R vs 3000GT
Well, I like the look of a sports sedan, and the Spec V is one of the better looking ones out there. The 3000GT is a bit too low and long for my tastes. And the Spec V turns mid to low 15's in the quarter mile as well.

screw the SL, a base 3000GT 94-96 would probably have the edge since it has the same engine as the SL (222hp, and 205 torque). Plus it doesnt have as many options inside the car making it (like it or not) 100lbs lighter. The SL tho might have to fight a bit more for the victory.

They should bring back the coupe models for the Sentra, some exterior design modification, and upgrade it to a 3.5 VQ35DE, and keep it all under $22K and 2700 lbs. That'd be sweet. Then it'd be like, screw 350Z.

wow... "screw 350Z"...? Looks are all in for the 350,and if im not wrong the Z is faster as well. They will never come out with a sentra that light either. Mostly because the american market likes heavy cars, and its one of japans number one consumers. I dont think you can compare the 350Z to the sentra (in my opinion) But hey, to each his own. |

Re: SE-R vs 3000GT
Nah, they need to keep it as a sedan, it looks much better that way. The Spec V is fine how it is, the only thing left for it really is forced induction.

the current SE-4 is 2500 lbs. if sentra gets a VQ treatment, it can very well keep up with 350Z. and if they even bring back the coupe, we can see some weight reduction there as well, totaling to less than 2700 lbs. your typical 350Z starts at 3200 lbs (200 pounds shy from my 300ZX). otherwise, it's much smarter for a person to spend $23K on getting the 3.5 Altima than the Maxima or Sentra.

Re: SE-R vs 3000GT
Technically, the Sentra already beat the Celica. Toyota isn't making them anymore.
As for a VQ in a Sentra, just a 3L with 222hp and 217lb-ft would be enough for a realistic application. The 3.5L would be too much.

Your talking about VQ30DE or VG30DE? lol. But didn't Nissan stop using VQ30DE for '04 line ups?

Re: SE-R vs 3000GT
nissan stopped using the VQ30 in their USDM vehicles after '01. they gave the 3.5 to my car standard('02 maxima), and as an option on the same year altima. you'll never see one in a sentra IMO. 3.5 altima's are already stealing sales from the maxima so i can't see another economy version of a maxima being produced.
