I think its somewhat funny that the BFG's beat out the Claws... The tread design in the claws is much more aggressive then the almost radial like BFG's. My friend got a pair of the claws this summer and when it first started to rain this last winter he wanted to impress us with ther claws killer mud traction. They sucked it up... They did great at first but they dont self clean worth a' darn.

Goth, add me to the list of Trxus owners.
I have been pretty pleased with them, this first week, except the gash in the sidewall. I am working to get that one replaced. They have the best sidewall pattern out there, and I was able to do some amazing rut driving, I mean these things stick to anything vertical! they deform nicely over rocks, and don't spin too much, the stepped side of the inner lugs is really efficient at cleaning out mud. I think that's what they are for. The highway noise is minimal. they are really quiet. Especially after riding in Will's truck with TSL Radials. My wife would kill me if I came home with those, almost did!

This is quite possible the greatest thread I have ever read in my short time on the xterra4x4 message boards. Thank you. When it finally comes time for me to start tinkering with my XTerra this will be the first thing I look at.
Harb p.s. I should have found this sooner but for some reason the main xterra 4x4 board says there are no posts in this forum... |

Futura M/Ts
Futura M/T
Don't laugh. I picked them up used for a good price. I couldn't descide on what tire to go with an A/T or an M/T. So this was a cheap way for me to run an M/T and see how I liked them. 5 tires mounted and balanced on AR767 rims for 350. from a friend. The M/Ts new are under 100 a tire for 31x10.5x15 I have no complaints about the tires. Some of my lugs are fairly beat from running on rocks. Two ply sidewalls, never punctured a sidewall yet (looking for wood to knock on). I run with the MAXC guys so rocks make up the majority of our trails. Tread life is around 30K with my style of on road driving, which is aggressive. Good wet pavement traction IMHO for an M/T. From what I hear they are not good in loose sand, but the guy who told me this was running full pressure. D'oh. On road you can hear them, but the radio on full blast drowns them out. I don't have too many people look at me in horror as I drive by, so I assume other people can't hear them too badly. Biggest complaint: 31.10.5 is the largest size offered. Better traction than the BFG A/T. Just ask Oleg. I pull him out of all the time. On several occasions we have attempted the same obsticle and while he is spinning maddly I drive right thru it. But that is expected of any M/T over an A/T. Recommended use: As a cheap introduction to M/Ts. Or, as a spare if you run other M/Ts. I will probably go with BFG M/T KAs next, mostly because I want a larger tire. PS. They are studded for steal spikes, incase the need should arrise:smoker2:

Bridgestone Winter Duelers
Bridgestone Winter Duelers are an awesome winter specific tire.
I got a set last year and they perform great in snow and ice. For the Xterra I chose a 31x10.5 tire size and would higher recommend them if you have a few months of winter to deal with (I live in Canada so have to deal with a good bit of winter ) |
