Re: 2004 Power Antenna Mast Replacement

hello fellas...I just happened to have fixed my antenna today. I got the antenna out but the plastic wire thing wasn't attached soooo i removed the fender flare about 6 10mm bolts and there are about 6 clips two on the bottom by the running boardpiece (which you don't have to take off) then I think 4 more the unit is right there, one bolt removes that. oh and make sure ya take off the nut on top by the antenna. pull the unit down..there is 6 screws you have to remove, don't lose the nuts, only a couple have them. the one in the center and the one with the wire attached.slowly open it up and take out the white plastic wire thing with teeth.put back together put it back under the fender, feed wire in and turn off radio goes right in..too easy. hope this helps

I had replaced the power mast on my 94 Camry years ago and it came right out after the retaining nut was removed aand the radio was turned on. Since it won't move, what do I have to do to get the mast out? Do I have to pull it up while the motor is turning? Will this method damage anything? Do I have to remove the motor assembly itself and then take that apart? Does anybody have any experience with this problem? Your help is greatly appreciated.

Mike
i have done this myself by removing partially the fender cover.you need to go to the motor and remove yourself the broken plastic cable inside the motor.once you do that, its easy as 123 to put the new antenna mast.dont buy those online cheapo buy directly from toyota cuz i did the same thing and the aftermarket i bought only lasted me 2 weeks.now i bought from toyota here in canada for about $70 and its not making any problem for more than a month now.if you are putting the new mast make sure before you install it your radio is turn on.once its on align the cable until it hits the stop and then turn off your radio as the mast will be eaten by the motor after that put back the nuts and the ornaments and you are good to turn it on and off.:
