would have to say that (no ofence intended to anyone here!) that pimped would relate more to American cars like Cadilacs and the like .

whereas rice is mainly related to Japanese automobiles

pimp is going for just looks, that is not related to anything performance wise, rice is when u try to base ur looks on speed, in example, a huge spoiler that makes it look like ur car can fly

20 inch crome rims, thats pimp, limo tinting, thats pimp, black leater seats, thats pimp, lowered, thats pimp, paying a guy to drive while u cruise in teh back with some sexy chicas is pimp, i think in the art of pimping, u would keep ur car all one color, get the biggest heviest rims ui can, make ur car look plain, but original at the same time


a sticker that says NOS is rice, a big wing is rice, a body kit that makes ur car "look" fast is rice, any decals are rice, big muffler is rice

This can be picked apart. the term rice can be picked apart. Rice/pimped is nothing more than a opinion. When I buy a performance product, I will gladly sport the sticker on my car, as long as it's not oversized. Yes I have a Zex decal, yes I have a Tokico decal, Yes I had a HKS decal, yes I have a ST decal, yes I have a kamikaze decal. Why do I have these? Because I am proud to show what I have. But if you call that rice, that is your opinion. And again, rice is nothing more then a opinion.

i mean would u put a NOS sticker on ur hood the size of a giant ape, even though u dont have the boost?

are u gonna have a wing that is higher than the roof of ur car.....or even ur house?, rice is based on performance looks, and pimp is based on looks, i think anything u do to ur car for performance "looks" is rice, but there is good rice, bad rice, over exaggerated rice, and a sweet ricey look thats just right.

i prefer the sweet ricey look thats just right, only cuz i cant afford the Pimp look, sitting on 20 inch Blades,(20 inch crome rims thats cost mega bucks) Pimp is what u see, no offense, but what u see a lot of black people doing, they lower there car, limo tinting and big rims, and they sit in the dirver seat as low as possible, so u cant see them rollin a blunt.....my brother does that one.....but u dont see pimp car with a 4'' new exhuast, if u pimp, u want a very quiet chrome tipped exhaust, so when u do a drive by, no one hears u comin until they hear the burst from ur AK47


Rice= the fast and the furious,
Pimp= any move about black ppl where there, like Friday, where ther eis a drive by with a black car with tinted windows, and big ass rims

which brings me to another point , ppl who pimp there cars, dont use bright colors like lime green or orange, or yellow.......

The bottom line with Rice and Pimp:

Rice: When you try to make a slow car look fast and try to fool others into thinking it's fast, even though you don't have the numbers to back up the looks

Pimp: When you try to customize your ride so it looks good to you, you wouldn't give a rat's ass about speed, it's show all the way.

To me RICE means excess or unneccasary. Like the HUGE wing that serves no logical purpose. The HUGE muffler. Over done stickers or graphics. I mean if you just have a few small ones, that isn't rice to me.

So I would take pimp over rice.

So let me get this straight. Since my GTR has a 3 1/2 " Trust Power Extreme system with a rather large muffler ( 4 1/2" tip and extremely large barrel that car is Rice ??????? I think you need to clearify your thinking. It is however very quiet!

Some would say the pic below is rice. The wing I would consider because it was actually designed and manufactured for the Series 6 RX-7 and not intended for use on a Skyline. The fact it is a 4 door with one of the largest front bumbers I have ever seen would not constitute rice. Rice should be something that is over board. Not only one VERY LOUD exhaust system, over bearing rear wing (for street use) and in general beyound what a show car should be such as this van in Japan. There has to be a fine line between rice, spud, pimped, etc. but not one that is so fine that a show car is classified. Now that LTD pictured above is too much for mearly a show car. Or is that just my opinion.

As simon pointed out Rice was intended for remarks against Japanese vehicles and has been for a long time. Hence the nick name for Honda's etc. as rice rockets. Spud as we call it here is when someone does hideous things to American made cars. Pimped was used for what mostly African American's or the Hispanic's did to larger american cars such as the old Chevy malibu, Cadilac's etc. Again that was left up to interpritation.

I have on more than one occation gotten into a heated discussion when someone has called one of my cars a ricer. Funny as both times that putz was driving an N/A car, this one particular guy was driving (not attacking any one or one's personal cars, make or model) a Honda civic with a 2 1/2 system with a 3" muffler you could hear from over 1 km away, lowered, 17" mags, a booming stereo, loaded with performance sticker like a race car. Oddly enough it had about the same performance as near stock civic. Yet my car looked stock standard on the outside and had all go. I guess sometimes this can be a sticky subject and if not kept on a rather quiet level, someone who's pride and joy is called something that is rather not tasteful can lead into a big mess.

Ok enough. I would rather not have either personally. Show, heaps of go, yep any day. Over the top? Na not for me.

NO Razor the R is not rice as the Exhaust (even though it is large) it is not EXCESSIVLY large, it is the right size for the engine.

Damm that four door Skyline has been slammed on its ass. That wing IS RICE
