Re: dual exhaust for 01' Eclipse GT?

so from what everyone says, the best exhaust system for maximum hp gain would be just replacing the exhaust manifold w/ headers and cutting off the stock muffler replacing it with a quality performance muffler? i take it high flow cats and entire catback systems should just be overlooked?

Hi-Flow cats are not really a necessity in an NA car. the stock cats fow enough, but if you are really going for a dyno runner, we have them available for the GT.

Re: dual exhaust for 01' Eclipse GT?

oh, i had a cavalier w/ a 2.4 and i had a header, freeflow cat, and cat back system and it actually seemed to loose power cause of no back pressure. i'm trying to go with the best route for horsepower gain and wondered what the best setup would be exhaust wise. what would you recommend?

The complete Hytech exhaust system. It comes engineered to gain horsepower. Those guys build F1 exhausts, so they know what they are doing. It is expensive, but you will gain over 40whp with the setup.

Re: dual exhaust for 01' Eclipse GT?

Nope. The main restriction in the exhaust is the muffler. A cat-back with this car will net you 3-4whp.

Re: dual exhaust for 01' Eclipse GT?

so would a cat-back system and just changing the muffler make pretty much the same amount of difference? i take it headers are the main item for hp gain for exhausts?

Re: dual exhaust for 01' Eclipse GT?

Headers on this car are some of the worst designs I have seen. But you will need tuning with headers. The cat-back will gain 3-4 and the muffler 2-3 due to the cat-back having straighter pipes.

Re: dual exhaust for 01' Eclipse GT?

Razzi makes the only cosmetic dual exahust for the 3G right now. Nobody makes true duals for the 3G as of yet.
