In Connecticut, Sunoco sells 94 octane. I believe that is the highest octane sold by a chain gas stations. I've heard of some select stations from Unocal 76 selling 100. I think in Los Angeles most stations sell 92. I prefer to buy Cheveron with Techroline. I probably would never put Arco in the car. It's cheap low octane fuel that is boosted with chemical additives.
If the gas is hurting your wallet, you may find some savings in using credit cards to pay. Some gas station cards, like offer rebates on gas for using their credit cards to buy. Sunoco offers 4%. Many commercial credit cards can accumulate bonuses, rewards, or rebates using them. Min you they won't be much, 1-4% but they add up in the long run. |

i get really bad gas mileage as well. and i use 93 octane. fill up is about 18 bux. if i drove the car perfect then i'd get good mileage, but its hard to do perfect shifts and not get on it. and if you get on it, that thing dumps gas like crazy.

i traded in my 97 nissan xe regular cab 4x4 with 33'' bridgestones and a 4'' trailmaster lift on it. that only had a 14 gallon fuel tank..now THAT thing sucked down gas...about 180 miles on a full tank of regular. so to me the spec is a gift from God!

I am going to experiment w/my next few tanks of gas. I heard on an advert that the big 3 use Chevron gas to pass emissions, and set mpg results. I have been using Arco, but they pissed me off, so I will try Chevron, Shell, and whatever else big name gas I can find. I'll let you know what I come up with.
So far, I have been ave'ing 26 mpg. |
