Re: Euro 2004

Yeah i'm also disappointed Ireland didnt make it. They always liven up the atmosphere and play some pretty good football. When you consider they beat the Dutch on their own turf a few weeks ago it's all the more disappointing they didnt qualify.

As for those who think Portugal are gonna win, what have you guys been smoking
They have to beat spain in the next round and well, i dont see that happening.. not with the way they've been playing...

England were shabby again last night. A crap performance, but beating the Swiss (down to 10 men) 3-0 apparently now makes them the hottest team on Earth, ever, if the english press are to be believed. And Croatia were damn unlucky not to beat the French in the last minute... i cant believe that guy missed the goal from three yards...

shaping up to be a great tournament

Never mind the missed chance how the hell the referee let Frances equalizer stand I'll never now. Fair enough it wasnt intentional hand ball but it definately benefitted the french player. The Croates (sp) are full of running and determination definately one team to watch. I also have heard they havent played their strongest team, cause they knew they would play England last.

Yeah that was some result for the Irish, I think we really sickened the Dutch. But what a goal from Robbie. We can play decent football and not many give us credit for. But it is our pure grit and determination that gets use through matches. I remeber one of the English commentators saying when Robbie equalised against Germany in the world cup "They just never know when they are beaten!!!!!!!!". And its through, our motto "It aint over till the fat lady sings"...but i remember sitting in the pub watching the match and a friend of my dads and myself where saying "ah well they put up a good fight" and commenting on where we thought things went wrong. We werent even watching the match and all of a sudden the pub errupted around us. The two of us just looked at each other started laughing and jumping around the place.

Re: Euro 2004

Robbie Keane is a class act, as is Damien Duff. Those two can scare any defence shitless, as they've proved time and time again. Oh well, it wasn't to be...

As for Croatia not fielding their strongest team until the England game, i wouldnt believe a word of it. The group stage only consists of 3 games, so you have to give yourself the best chance of winning each one. They wouldnt have fielded a strong team against Switzerland, way too risky.

Like I said just a rumour I heard, but if they play the same way they did last night when they play England, England could be booking an early flight home.

On what channel can I catch the World Cup in California? I have cable tv. I really wanna see some "football" matches.

Ever wonder why they named american football, football? I mean you use your legs only on the frigging kickoff. Soccer, bah, what a dumb name. It should be called football, and not soccer.

www.setanta.com

You have to have a cable box and either pay $179 for the tournament or $20 for each game in the first round and $25 for each game in the knockoff stage.

I just got the whole tournament, it's more price efficient.

As far as you living in CA, I'm sure there's some Mexican channels that will show the game as well. I believe Fox Sports World is showing 5 live mathces and a few reruns.
