All nitros is the same There are so many different set ups available these days, I would hardly call them all the same. I would say go with the Zex kit. it is easy, and pretty fool proof. Probably one of the safest kits (probably because they are usually used for smaller shots into the throttle body if I am not mistaken...could be though!). And I am assuming you are just going to install like a 50 shot or so. That would be a decent shot for you. Really you should never run a shot larger than 50% more than your car already makes. And that is the limit unless you want to really screw things up. For instance say a gsr b18c1 has 170hp, you could potentially run a 80 shot, but I would not recomend running that much because the more you run the more risk you run of damaging your motor. I would say run between 40-60 with that motor. I don't know what kind of power your motor makes, but I would say keep it sumwhat low!

zex and honda go hand in hand.

If you want to spray your lude I would say zex 55 shot. keep it small until you learn more about it.

I would advise you learn some about it before you even get it, it will help you out.

Re: Re: Nitrous Oxide Pros/Cons Questions and Comparison

Here is my set-up that cut 2 seconds off my 1/4 time. I have a CRX with D16a6 SOHC non-vtec motor with stock internals and a 50 shot NX wet kit. 1) Start with a wet kit such as ZEX, NOS or NX. 2) Air/fuel gauge 3) NGK Spark Plugs BKR7E-11 these spark plugs are colder than stock and it works great on daily driven cars. I prefer wet kits primarily because the extra fuel needed is supplied by the fuel solenoid. The fuel delivery works independently and with the NX kit a fuel pressure safety switch can be added to cut off nitrous flow if the fuel pressure drops. I eventually added an MSD digital-6 ignition upgrade because my stock coil in the distributor could not keep up with the extra pressure once nitrous was used. If you feel hesitation or even hear a loud popping sound from your exhaust once you spray, that means that your ignition needs more spark. On the H22 you can start off with a 50 shot and leave everything stock but at the 75 shot range consider an igniton upgrade. Honda coils produce weak spark on any forced induction set-up. If you want an easy set-up start with ZEX wet kits. Hook up three wires and your good to go. I like NX because you can keep upgrading the system if you decide to go further with nitrous like going 100+ shot or full race set-ups. Also with NX, actual wheel HP is gained. I've proven to myself the power of NX. I ran 17.5 all motor to 15.3 on a 50 shot. That is respectable time considering I have AC and no cuts on the overall weight of the car. I can keep going on this topic, but if you need specific info, post it.

Re: Re: Nitrous Oxide Pros/Cons Questions and Comparison

I'm just wondering why your 55 shot only cut .4 sec off your 1/4 time. I think a 14.7 pass on an all motor is excellent but once you spray I would think you could be on the low 13's. When do you activate the nitrous on your set-up? I ran a 17.5 all motor on a full interior and A/C SOHC 1.6 CRX and with a NX 50 shot I ran a 15.3 with street tires. I spray from launch all the way to 4th gear so maybe you spray later. Just curious.

Re: Nitrous Oxide Pros/Cons Questions and Comparison

Assuming that your motor is in good operating condition, a 50 shot should be plenty with stock internals. I posted on the next page what I have set-up in my CRX. On 1.6L 4 cylinder motor stay on the 50 shot range on 1.8L or larger motor a 75 shot is managable but I would consider an igniton uprgade to give the spark plugs more spark once nitrous is applied. The MSD digital-6 is perfect for nitrous users. I like the performance of the NX wet kits. I proved to my self that it can cut 1/4 time up to 2 seconds on a daily driven car. Like a lot of people say, if you want an easy install start with ZEX. The NX kits have more wiring, but it is not that complicated. The detailed wiring diagrams are easy to follow. Plus with NX you can upgrade the system for more power especially if you decide to go direct-port or build up to a full race nitrous set-up.

Re: Nitrous Oxide Pros/Cons Questions and Comparison

i agree i also have a nx 50 shot it is also a wet kit. with slicks i pull a 1.75 60 foot lanching on the bottle and not letting off till te end. i dont have a 1/4 mile track but i do have a 1/8 mile track. my times on motor are 8.6 and with spray i ran a 7.88. also the instalation time was only a couple of hours, and that was taking my time. a couple things i would recomend doing is upgrade fule pump and injectors for tunning and get a bottle warmer last a good air/fule gauge and pressure gauge.

this was the 1st time at the track with nitrous and shifted slower than normal just trying to keep it safe cuz I was not fully comfortable with spraying it was the 1st night I sprayed the car ever. I havent been back to the track yet. but I will see 13's.

I also have a broken motor mount so both all motor and nitrous time's will fall greatly when that is fixed and the nitrous time will drop because I have sprayed many time's since then and I am now comfortable with it.

Also cutting 2 seconds off your time....did you only run 17.5 once and then spray and run a 15.3? or did you pull consistant 17.5's and then spray? If you only ran a 17.5 once and then ran with the nitrous the 2 second's could be alittle dramatized. but none the less it made your time quicker than it would be all motor.

Re: Re: Nitrous Oxide Pros/Cons Questions and Comparison

What is your tire/wheel combo upfront and where can I buy them? I'm losing so much time on the launch due to weak traction I currently pull 2.47 on the 60 foot and by the time I hit the 1/8 mark it is at 10.07 and end up at 15.48. If I can cut a second off my launch, I'll be content with high 14's on the 1/4 mile. Do you also have anything modified with your tranny ?
