if we are talking fastest street car, what about the lingenfelter. what, 6.7 second 1/4 mile. i would like to see a street car take that.

This is absolutely out of question...When not tuned, the Viper would smoke the Mustang but if you're talking about a particular and tuned Mustang, then the terms of business change inevitably.

Dumb thread.
Stock for stock the Mustang GT can barely take out my car, the Viper is a whole other plateau... Mod's, well that's a stupid whole new topic that could be arued until the end of the world without going any where.

The mustang gt will easily get beat by the viper. Heck, even the cobra will give up 3-4 tenths in the quarter on a viper. But I can't wait until 2006 when Ford plans to drop a 500 horsepower supercharged 5.4L engine in the SVT Cobra.
