future contest ideas??!!??

I'm in for the sleeper concept. I've had the ultimate sleeper in mind for a full detailed project for some time and that could make me get off my duff and build that stealth-type whiskey tanker I've been planning for so long. Let's do it

Dunno if this might interest you guys, but I think it would be really cool to have a contest of older cars, let s say at least 20 years old, that way we ll have a break of all those new an dmodern imports we see all day long here , and we ll see muscle cars, vintage, classic and race cars around here, also rods would qualify.

dunno it s just a suggestion, take it or leave it.

... Why not making a contest for old kits too? (I've found a 1979 Heller kit of the Citroën Traction 15-6 that would suit both propositions...)

... Or just the simple but always efficient idea to make a 1-kit contest: same kit for everybody, free to add changes, from light mods to heavy ones... Base kit should be affordable by everyone, something like the Revell New Mini (very challenging to make it look good!), or the Tamiya 350Z (that would make the AF Custom Model Car...)

... Or a contest of free designed racing paint scheme, based on the same kit too, for example a Tamiya Porsche 962C (affordable, easy to find and to build) or a Fujimi racing R32...

... Or just a Lamborghini contest? ( Urraco75...)

... Or something like a "I make my Tamiya Porsche 911 fly", in a very S-F spirit...

... Or a "Lambo-doors" contest: base kit free, just needs to be modified to have a lambo-way-of-opening doors... (may be extended to gullwind and suicide doors). This theme seems to be quite popular on this forum...

... Or a "I make my Enzo look decent" contest: who would best re-design this car in order to make it loveable? ( ) Revell and Tamiya accepted - time limit in this case could be up to 1 year...

... Or a Lancia Rally racers Contest: we would see kits from Stratos to 037 and various Delta... Maybe could be a "in-action" contest (drivers figures included, diorama...).

... Or, for the forthcoming months: a Murcielago vs Carrera GT Contest... Or a full carbonised chassis contest (Carrera & Enzo)... Or...

well damn talk about some ideas! what ever it is ide lie it to be something with a GIANT turn out. not 6 or 7 builders, i waould like to see some numbers. but if we have number of people we will need big prizes! dont u think?

A colour contest= you all have to use the same colour for the body

A contest where you have to use the most putty on ! -oh, no, that has been done just now, forget that thought-

This is my idea that came to me in the sleepy time hours! Any car goes but u have to design a concept car from it with as lilttle or gobs of detail involved!? i like most of these ides but would like to try to sway away from the usual af build of a racey street car.

News flash------------everyone here is familiar with SEMA correct? Letrs have a model SEMA contest! could apply to every single idea posted in this and mikes thread! yeeeeeeeeeaaaaaa i like that idea the most......LOL!!!

SEMA contest would include everything from concept cars, super rod cars, trucks, imports, everything! I know SEMA is a produst show but people take that chance to show off there new custom ideas that turn eventuall into the fad of the year! Could even build a DISPLAY like its on display at the show!?

Why do we have to be forced to build customs?
dont you see enough of those on the boards?

there seem to be no place for an accurate representation of an actual car albeit stock or custom in this idea...

try to think as broad as you can , everybody has got the right to enter, no matter what kind of level of modeling they re in, and you seem to want to do an elite modelers only comp, which will nonetheless give us maybe a few very special models, but most modelers will only be able to watch and vote...

I think participating is still more important then winning in these matters.

Keep in mind a true to life model contest doesnt necessarely means a box stock build ... many of the modelers here do magic on crappy kits.

Although there can be made very nice cars too if you just build box stock.

it s all about talent and experience, for me a well built box stock model is way better then a huge pile of putty badly sanded build up.

No. Thats why we want a custom contest.

from what i see on this board is alot of (IMO) stock style race street cars! IMO thats not custom< but the board is very world wide and custom in the UK might be very different from custom in the US. That is why iwas suggesting a SEMA type based contest! SEMA is what every car custom car builder would like to see there creation end up!

So all in all oi suppose a general contest would be a way to go! Seeing that every country in the world gives a different spin to the word custom!


Lets keep floating around some more ideas. I think we might be getting close to something! We do need something that will accept everything from regular cars to the ultimate custom! This does need to be very wide ranged to get as many entries as possible! I would like to see this end up being one of the biggest contests AF have ever seen!
