You mean the whole car a black sticker!??

Not painted black???

That was news to me!

Andybee, what's your favourite livery done by "others"?

Again I have to say you have made some McLarens look mighty cool out there on the racetrack

It's really not that uncommon to cover the car in stickers rather than paint - they do something similar now as advertising on buses and private cars:

Re: What livery is the coolest/not so cool?

yes, you can heat srink sticker material over an entire car. Quite a labout intensive process, but quicker, than say a respray and cheaper.

see this pic of a different car, http://www.seatcupra.net/images/thru...thruxton12.JPG

See the riples under the headlamp. that car is covered yellow in the same way.

Have to say my favourite by a mile would be the Silver one on the previous page, cant remember the name, BBA I think, after that, then probably the Yellow Hat from JGTC

The silver car was run by BBA Competition - driven by Jean-Luc Maury-Laribiére - car owner (F)/Marc Sourd (F)/Hervé Poulain (F) at the 1995 LeMans 24Hrs race. The sponsors were YACCO/TULIES TBF/TELECIEL. It finished the race in 13th place (32 laps behind the winner).

Re: What livery is the coolest/not so cool?

know it all!

btw, sending you a mail later eric

also, so its fair, I reckon my least successful liveries are the pre season Gulf 96 livery, never liked that and the Sal Incandela livery, partly due to the crap typeface

"Pre-Season '96 Gulf livery"?

Also "Sal Incandela" I assume you mean the Dave Price Racing livery used on their 'WEST' car during portions of '96. I think the script on the door read "Sal Oppenheimer & Cie", correct?

you might have to copy and paste the link as its tripod

never liked it, but the sponsor wanted it, luckily I got my way and reversed the Gulf colours which had been one of the proposals for 95. Change of blue btw was because it was lighter

Ahhhh - I had seen that photo before, but never looked at it close enough to notice the differences. I do think the later version is a huge improvement.

Incidentally, do you know any thing about the all white Gulf-liveried car that supposedly appeared in the first race in 1996. I believe that it may have been a replacement car used when the original was wrecked. Anyway, I've still never seen a real photo of it, only the shots of the small diecast reproduction.

Re: What livery is the coolest/not so cool?

umm, now I think about it yes, didn't the car catch fire or something, so GTC used the Grioux car. Never seen a photo 3/4 but do remember seeing a grid pic from the front at the time with the white car. Cant remember if it had a Gulf logo on the front.

Well the Franck Muller car also started the '96 season in white, so it could have been that car you are thinking of.
