those bikes look really hard to draw even with a grid, too many open engine parts.

Here is more progress:


Slidenride: I was taught the grid method in school, and i use it to get the proportions as accurately as possible. My ref pics are always smaller than my drawings so its never "traced". Besides, many great, professional artists(including da vinci) have used the grid method. if you seriousley need proof, go to www.artskills.com/gridhistory.htm

As for the time put into my work, i spend that amount because it is a hobby i enjoy. The time isn't an issue for me. I spend the necessary time to get the results i am happy with. I recently came across an artist who had spent 250 hours on a pencil portrait. The picture is incredible and i know that i'm not capable of drawing like that no matter how many hours i spend. Time is not an issue.
