i've always hated Cavaliers/Sunfires, but i especially hate the newest generation. it's ugly (especially the 4 door which looks like it was thrown together in 5 minutes), cheap (poor quality of plastics, interior, etc.), underpowered (POS 4 cylinder), and above all, it's a GM for christ's sake.

but it's the worst when people do them up.

i mean seriousley. a regular car will keep a body style for maybe 4 or 5 years before it's redesigned. the Cavalier/Sunfire? it's had the same body style since 1995. all they've changed has been the styling (twice, i might add, and ONLY the front lights and bumpers and shit. the chassis stayed the same), options, packages, and i think they threw a new engine in the mix too (still a POS though). the Cobalt/whatever the Pontiac one is called isn't debuting until next year, which makes it a 10 year long model run.

and the last generation? the same thing. i'm not sure when it was introduced (mid '80s i think), but when they "redesigned" it, all they did was give it new styling, new options, on the exact same ancient chassis. this body style ran until '95, and i'm pretty sure it was introduced in '84 or '85.

in fact, today i saw a mid-80s one with an early-90s front end on it. the body panels swap right over.

anyways, i hate Cavaliers.

PS Toksin, the Toyota Cavalier is a stupid joint venture in which GM gives Toyota the cars, and all they do is re-badge them and sell them. that's it. what's weird is Toyota actually put effort into making parts for it. you can buy a TRD body kit for your Chevy Cavalier.

Well put, I suppose it's not surprising though that the big three American (well one is now German) manufacturers put absolutely no effort into compacts- they tend to build only for the North American market and the North American market likes cars big and wafty.

As a consequence, Ford simply made the German-designed Focus and GM and Chryslers Compacts are 10 years old (for each) and don't driver nearly as nicely as thier Japanese/European rivals, nor do they have better engines, or interiors, or exteriors, or equipment levels, or anything as a matter of fact....

I don't even know why they bother.
