Re: surprize at my door.....But......

sorry, i should have been more specific. when i said glue i was talking about a glue called tenax zr ( i think that's what it's called) it's in a small glass bottle with a yellow label, it bonds hard within 10 seconds

Im curious to see what you can do... In 1/43 scale your work was horible... (had to say it ) I wouldn't do such "hard" bodywork. Or it might look like a Glob of Putty.

Tenex plastic weld is CA glue (I think) which basically is Super Glue...

Re: surprize at my door.....But......

You know, to be fair considering all the crazy techniques, terrible glues, weird tools, and off the wall paint techniques supermod04 uses... His models actually come out (seemingly) decent. I'd love to see what he could do if he did it all carefully, and with the correct supplies.

mabye tenax makes several diffrent kinds. the kind i have is thin like water and dries 3 times as quick as super glue. I'm not good with chemical names or how each works but it is very diffrent from all other types of glue i use. i very rarely use it unless i need a very strong bond, or when i use styrene.

Re: surprize at my door.....But......

well, the stuff i use (in the uk) is called plastic weld and it's made by EMA model supplies Ltd.
y'know, the solvent agent in normal poly cements, well that's what this is, just more pure.

you put the parts to be joined together, then with a brush, wipe some of the plastic weld against the joint (needs to be a good clean join).
capillary action draws the plastic weld into the join, melts the plastic and bonds both parts together.
the thing is, it works on most plastics (styrene, abs, plexiglass (so you can use it for clean bonding of 'glass' parts.
used carefully, it can also be used to clean up paint accidents as long as you stop and wash off the part before you begin to melt your model.

have to admit that my little bottle of plastic weld is a little stronger than it should be as i top up with pure dichloromethane everytime i'm in the model workshop at uni and the technicians aren't looking....
