Re: 2+2 with a VG30DETT??

I have seen many posts on lots of forums about this issue, none as informative as this site. It's great because I have a 90' 300zx 2+2 NA, that's all that was released in OZ. I bought my car 6 months ago off my father and lets say I didn't pay much(they go for about $15k here). The old girl has done 265000 kms its still tight but its gonna need rebuilding eventually so it may aswell be a TT.

I know it's gonna cost prb 10k to do it properly but 2+2 TT are even rare in OZ. But this thread has got me excited, got to find a good Z shop.
I here everyone saying how expensive they are to maintain but its still an exotic car on a budget.
I dont want to even know what it costs to keep your porshe or Ferrari in good shape

Re: 2+2 with a VG30DETT??

All '90 thru '96 TTurbo Z cars sold in the UK were 2+2 models, only NA cars were the shorter wheelbase. In the US, the 2+2 was never a TT, only an NA, thus yes in answer to your question. It's a matter of which ECU, which wire harness, and use of the turbo crossmember, along with the cutouts in the front for the twin IC's

All UK cars are 2+2 TT - no NA, no SWB, only 2+2 TT.

All NA or SWB cars in the UK have been imported.

I guess all those 2+2 TTs that the US didn't get had to go somewhere.

I wonder if this was just all marketing or if there is a maze of emissions and safety regs that made this all work out like it did

Probably both.

IMO any car will break down alot if you flogg it and dont keep up regular servicing. I have only had mine 6 months not a problem but it has been regularly serviced and looked after all its life.

Thats why I want the Z1 ms package you could flogg that all day.

Any one got any specs (dyno?) of there NA since doing any mods?

I know your out there.

yes, if you don't take care of a z, you might as well not have one. anyways, who would not want to take care of a z? i couldn't stand not doing that.

Any car not taken care of will not last long.

The VG and 300Z in general was beefed up to withstand the insane torture a turbo puts on an engine (imagine sprinting a mile with a 100 psi O2 tank forcing air into your lungs). That is why alot of NA VGs last 200K miles and beyond with no problem. TTs get abused like no other, and alot of TT drivers are idiots. Trying to run hard at 14 psi on stock components is just asking for a problem. Take your time and do your build up work, it will pay off a hundred fold (like not having to pull a blown motor again)

And www.twinturbo.net has a bunch of dyno run pictures, most of them TT (Like the infamous Wagz 740 rwhp run ) but there are some NAs too.
