Net relationships suck. I'd need the physical part of a relationship, and like Jimmy_11 said, you never know, you could be talking to a 50 yr old guy instead of a younger hottie like they say.
Its fun to meet people, but not as a relationship...But hey, each to their own

helps if i finish my thoughts

another thing that i believe talking to people over the net can do is show you all teh different personalities there are out there in the world and you can figure out which one you like.

the problem with net relationships is that you can never be 100% sure that the other person is being honest. It is hard to fully judge a person on words on a screen

More valid points. I have seen talk shows do shows on them and very very few ever work out. As was stated it is hard to know 100% that the person you are talking to is for real and whom they claim they are.

It is so easy to hid behind type, and hype but comes the day when you may have to front. Me personally what you see is what you get. I have been to quite a few meetins from the chat room I met Barb in. I have met over 400 people who used to chat in the rooms I frequented. Nearly every single one of them were not whom they claimed in one form or another but hey I got to see, talk, and converse in real time and then make my judgement from there.

On the net well I take people at face value until I see otherwise. Cuts all the possibilities out and makes for a more enjoyable time on the net.

Peace

Yes, exactly.

Another thing......people always have a picture of themselves which is usually a few years old....hmmm.

BTW - I didn't know what option to pick.

I have met a chick on the net, she even came over to see me, she was nice, and we had a good time, but nothing serious, it was just a holiday for her, she had never been to NZ and wanted to see some places, I was a tourist guide if you like.

Well I think chat rooms are a bit of a lurking place for some weirdos...

But i think forums (like this) are ok, because you do tend to build up friendships with ppl and can suss out what they're about by the way they reply and come across. I think some great friendships can be made.

But I don't think a proper "relationship" can be made until you meet the person face-to-face. Even if u get to the point where you are phoning each other, I don't think it can ever be the same as going out and getting to know each other in person.

There are exceptions of course, and it's obviously worked for some.

Im not saying to fall in love with a person based on their personality, but talking to people and getting to know them better online and know there personality, is a good way to learn the kind of personality that you want in someone that you meet in real life. Ive met girls over the net unlike any girl ive ever met in real life with what they say they would do and that.

A person can construct themselves however they see fit on the 'net....However,you have to be damned good at lying to get away with it.If you talk to someone over a period of time, and think about what they say and how they say it,you will find that you can quickly spot a pretender.I'm not suggesting that you cross-examine every statement somebody makes in a forum, just pay good attention to what they are trying to say,and most importantly what they are trying to avoid saying.Never meet an internet friend in person unless you have cast-iron confidence that they have been 100% truthful with you and that their motivation for wanting to meet you is entirely legitimate.

The odds are stacked against you if you try to develop a relationship over the internet....you only have to look at the pictures that people post of themselves to realise that whatever you think the person you are talking to,may be like, reality is often a surprise.

It's through not threw.

But having a online relationship can be hard. Sitting behind a monitor may be easier for some to forget about reality, and tend to move to what a person wishes they could be.

I did say that my pic was a few years old, so does that count?? You all know my aversion to cameras of any kind! :hehehe:

lol, i always make stupid typos like that.... my brain thinks through, and my fingers type threw. or my brain thinks there and i write their
haha

talkin about myself though, it would seem like a waste of time to build a relationship with somebody who lives far away (romantic relationship, not friend relationship) i don't even understand how you could have a romantic relationship with somebody on a computer

ah well, to each his own.... right?
