well you got a bigger engine, a B18 with vtec has alot more down low.

So you think that a stock B18a is better than a B18c before vtec kicks in? I can't say that it is or isn't but I do know that when I first got this car VTEC wasn't hooked up and it was still quick as hell. It doesn't have much of a bottom end but it was still quick, very quick. I love the b series vtec motors, they are amazing. If you're ever in the northwest I'd give you a ride so you can see for yourself.

I dont know about him but I live in the northwest

I have been in the car when a race happened between a GSR and a RS sedan, both 3rd gens, and the RS only had intake, and the GSR had IHE/ACT XTSS/vtec controler and ran high 14's. I know the RS didnt hit those times at all, race was from a roll in 2nd, the RS had it from 2nd towrds the end of 3rd but as the RS(car I was in) hit 4th the GSR was just pulling by. I could tell by watching the GSR though he wasnt in 2nd and at the 3rd honk hed drop to 2nd cuz the car would look like it slowed down a bit then took off, the RS was cruising in 2nd and at the 3rd honk just floored it so he got the jump start. but 3 times in a row the RS held for the first few seconds.

That's impressive considering it was a 4 DR Vs. 2 DR ... interesting bit of info.

Re: Dericing my teg *pics*

yeah, the weight difference really isnt much though, especially considering a RS has no cruise or sunroof and GSR are loaded.

Re: Dericing my teg *pics*

the torque comment was refering that honda's arnt meant for torque there meant for high reving power. if ya want torque get a car with torque. i live in kansas i deal with hicks all day long it gets fucking tiring everyone thinks there hot shit in there ford anal probe. and there big ass trucks. i see more rice on camaro's and mustanks that it just makes me sick. they call it rice. but here it should be called soybean. and yes torque is good but i would much rather have a b18c than my b18a. although im going turbo hopefully withing a month or 2. i have no problem with the b18a but it isnt meant to be a race engine like the c it just happens to work out to be a good engine to boost.

Not to drag this out, my last coment on the subject of 4 Banger Tourqe is that I'm not looking for 700lb's of tourqe from my teg, but having maybe 10-20 lbs more than another 4 banger would help me in a race. Another reason I don't want a B18C engine is because so many people use those and think VTEC is so cool because they're clueless, I'm building my B18A so I can show up those dumb kids and their E-VTEC's ... no I'm not calling a B18C an E-VTEC I was talking about the Econo-Civics.

I thought there was only a difference of like 10 foot pounds? if this is true then HAHA if you think 10 ft/lbs makes a difference.

Anyway, I had my speedo disconnected for awhile last winter which in turn disconnected my vtec, anyway raced an LS of the same year and we were even off the line, through first and second then i hit third and pulled ahead of him... I guess just the better gearing of my gs-r pulled it ahead cuz with out vtec the engines run about the same... cept for higher redline i suppose. so anyway your extra torque doesn't give you the edge.

PS, don't forget I have even less torque than kickers gs-r engine cuz mine is the 1.7

and you can't compare a non-vtec b18 to a vtec b16, the b18 obviously has an edge on it with the torque. but in similar engines the vtec will be better stock for stock

I agree stock for stock you're right, but atleast I'm not talking about a stock B18A Vs. a B18C, also I believe it's more like 20-30 Lb's of Tourqe, not 10. Oh and yes the gearing is different so that would play a role specialy stock Vs. Stock when it comes to acceleration, closer gears, that's really all I want to say on that, felt a bit of tention in that post I don't want this to become a flame or something.

Re: Dericing my teg *pics*

KoRnboy ... say what you want about a vtec car ... with all the current mods and torque you have on your non vtec ls , you would still get walked by a STOCK VTEC GSR !! and with every mod the vtec gets thats about 30-40 more hp than the non vtec would put out ....And just to clearify , the ls has about a pound or 2 LESS torque than the gsr stock for stock ... the ls just hits its peak at a lower rpm than the gsr
