Re: Problems with 96 neon

Syndrome51 has a good point there. I had a problem with bucking, well it was more like missing, and changed my plugs and wires and it all went away. When was the last time you had those checked? I don't think they started putting the filter in the tank till 2000. Quick check. Go to the passenger side, and slide under about 2/3 the way back. You should see the filter there next to the tank if it is not in the tank.

Re: Problems with 96 neon

Come to think of it, the fuel filter wouldn't throw a check engine light anyway. It very well could be the plugs and wires.

Re: Problems with 96 neon

Just took the car out and the fukin thing bogs and gurgles when i floor it and it dosnt even really pick up. The engine light came on again also. I have no clue what the hell it is! It wasnt the wires and the throttle body is clean. The mechanic did say that the obd II said it might be the crank sensor. I dont know

Re: Problems with 96 neon

If I'm not mistaken, I think the fuel filter is part of the fuel pump module
