Re: guestion about 420a internals and mods

to start... build up the block... the top end isnt that important right now! you can get your whole block done up nice for about a grand...that is if you pull it out of the car and put it back in! pistons and rods with run you around 800 and bore and hone + reasembly will be around 200. so that leaves you with 3000.

what you need to do is start off by figuring out what you want to do... race/strip or the occational strip/more street race! if your planing for big numbers $4000 isnt goin to cut it... so my suggestion is do the street set up for now and upgrade later!

do valves, cams, and springs... after reasembly it should run you around $1000! now you get to have some fun picking out the goodies! you have aprox. $2000 left... evo 16g would be my suggestion, $600. that leaves you with $1400 for intercooler + piping, BOV, injectors, fuel pump, oil lines, exhaust manifold... turbo back exhaust, gauges, S-AFC, MBC (manual boost controller), and some type of pocketlogger would be really helpfull but not necessary if you have access to a dyno or another sort of tuning device!

anything else you need just ask!

Re: guestion about 420a internals and mods

since you ran your block out of oil i would recomend buying a new block bored out and with heavy duty pistons, rods, and crank. it might be cheaper to buy a long block all bored out and ported long block is the engine block and head short block is just the engine block.

oops i guess i did reply to the wrong thread. which was the thread with the guy who wanted to turbo his gs/gs that he had run out of oil cuz he forgot the oil cap.

btw it still might be cheaper and better to buy a new block and head if you have a bunch of miles on yours
