The laser kit was the most popular, but it wasn't the only 917 kit.

The kit car I was close to buying was almost an exact replica. It's resemblance in shape was only the beginning. It was also painted exactly like the blue pic above. But, that yellow one is a laser, methinks.

It is a Laser, quite possibly the best one I have seen. Most of them are junk. And with the right engine then can be wicked, but remember, they are not a high quality car.

Is that the car, or very similar to the one Steve Mcqueen used?

Yes I was, I don't know the whole story but I do know that he bought it for his new movie, Le Mans i think in 1970.

Smile 917

Hi, I have quite a selection of 917 data, it’s my all time favorite racecar. I’ve talked to Vic Elford about the 917 and about Steve McQueen in the Le Mans movie. I might be able to answer a few questions about
the car from an engineers perspective. I also had the misfortune to know someone who built one those ridiculous laser things.
