you said that it won't turn over in neutral , have you tried replacing the neutral safety switch , that would cause it not to start , try adjusting it or getting another from a junk yard

Hey I think I've got the exact same problem, I was driving the car and it just died all of a sudden got it towed home and hooked it up to a battery charger as the towing process required the use of my tail lights, any way I went to turn the motor over to see if it was chrarging properley and it started, next day when I went to drive it it was dead again and I haven't been able to start it since, I've checked for a spark from the ignition coil and haven't got one, I checked the voltage at the primary and got 12V from the +ve terminal to ground and 5~6V from -ve terminal to ground, which according to the service manual should be right, I replaced the ignition coil and still can't get a spark.

Yeah I fixed it, it was the igniter inside the distributor, went down to a pick a part type place and got another one for $2 including a capacitor which resides on the outside of the distributor, the wire to my capacitor had snapped off right at the base of the capacitor which is the probable likely cause for the failure of the igniter. I'd recomend you try the same if you haven't already because my car sounded like it died from the same symptoms and now it runs like a charm.
