My friend has a 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX Wagon, it's nice.

He got the upgraded titanium shifter, the gauge pack and a few other STI options, it sounds really nice and besides the slow first gear, it's fast.

Even though Tom_S8 outlined the performance of his 952, he never said what the 951, 952 really were, both are 944 Turbos. I have great repsect for the 944's because I really like them and hope to have one soon, the 944 isn't the fastest Porsche by any stretch, but be cautious of the Turbo.

heh heh, such a common problem for impreza owners, yet so easy to fix with the right launch technique.

i can put 2-3 lenghts on almost anything through 1st gear alone and mines not even a wrx. so its not the 1st gear thats slow...

My 952 is faster then my 911 turbo (for now) and i have never driven a car that has better handling... Anyway my car is far from stock...

i dont know why WRX owners are so proud of their automobiles... you could get just about any holden torana add about $3000(aus!) worth of engine work and you've got a 15 second car... that with the aspiration help... and a supercharger or a turbo and you've immediately got a quicker car... put something like a buarguana gear box in there, you have a car that would beat any subie you could throw at it... the truth is... WRX's arent that good cars... whichever way you look at it there still 4cylinder 2L (approx) engines...

wow that was really incoherent to me. i did understand something about modding a car and AFTER $3000 of engine work youve only got a 15 second car, but the wrx is a low 14 second car stock, so i must have understood that wrong too. then you said something about putting a turbo on it, but bang there goes your warranty, unlike the wrx whixh has a turbo stock. from what i understand in your post u wanna really modify some car completely, engine, tranny, forced induction, just to compete with a stock wrx, and thats why wrxs arent any good?

holden torana, 900 kilos (weight reduced), turbo'd 192 I6... 5 grand all up, manages to get 12's, much better than any subie POS

i was saying, most ppl who own subies think they're performance vehicles, but they're not... in aus, they have a reputation for being womens cars

oh yeah, the torana was capable of a 16 quarter stock... LOL, get this, THAT WAS 30 YEARS AGO...:finger: :finger: :finger: :finger:

yes, subarus here have a reputation for being old ladies and tree huggers cars thanks to the OBS, and subaru also markets their cars to lesbians. that doesnt change the fact that the wrx is probably the quickest non-exotic 4 cylinder on the american market right now, one of the best all around performance values, and has more WRC 1st place victories than any other car since its introduction to WRC.

yeah i guess youre right, a turbocharged, horizontally opposed, awd, stock limited slip car really cant be considered a "performance vehicle"

if you wanna do this price comparison ive got a honda sitting in my backyard that weighs 1100 pounds stock, and i only paid $200 for it. lets throw a 350 or something in it and see it runs 12's maybe 11's, all for less than $1000. does that have anything to do with the wrx being a performance vehicle? no...

Thumbs down WRX HA

I personally do not like the WRX, there are little bastards around where I live that think since their car runs like a 14.7 stock they think that they are the shit... ummmm, sorry.. I paid 14 grand for my car and its front wheel drive non-turbo and with a lil bit of modding i run high 13's and thats under 20 grand total for everything including the car... you know what would be REAL COOL.. ok ill tell you.. if my grandma got one... oh wait.. she did

i was thinking along the lines of a lotus elise when i said that. if a wrx was about to race a 140hp elise, i think i would put my money on the elise

You took the words right out of my mouth Lotus is the only manufacturer that I could think of. The S2000 might just make it in that range because there aren't that many of them out there yet.

LOL... where to start

first off, i'm assuming this car is a hatchback, and also a front wheel drive... heres a question for ya, how do you think your gonna fit a 350 into something so small, the mounts wont even fit a 6 so i dount they'll fit a 350 v8, even if you did manage to accomplish this how do you think your goin to strengthen the chassis so it doesnt tear itself in half?

and furthur more, did you account for the weight that the engine will add?

plus, how do you think that your going to get the power to the ground?? even if you did manage to horisontally oppose a 350 (whcih i doubt you will) how would you stop your uni joints from shearing? *even is it is a rear wheel drive you still have to upgrade things like gearbox, tailshaft, axles, and the brakes would need to be change to handle the much weightier car*...

tyres - what kinda tyres do you plan to fit onto the '1100 pound' car, how are you gonna get the power to the ground?? how do you expect to do a 12 second quarter with no traction?

i can see you havent thaught this through...

you need to get into the scene a bit more to understand this... obviously you arent around cars or cars restorers that often, so i will excuse your ignorance, but please... dont brag about your rice steamer, its pathetic

well actually, ive seen a car exactly like it with a 350. he moved the firewall back and sat in the back seat. and it ran 11's with basic mods. no i wasnt planning on doing a FWD 350, that would be retarded, why would u even think of that?

maybe you need to "get into the scene" and realize when you do an engine swap, you dont have to use the stock motor mounts or the stock transmission. obviously youve never budget-built a drag car. my cousins camaro cost less than $1500 to build. hell the motor is held in by thick chains instead of motor mounts. guess what-it turns 10's... street legal-lights, blinkers, tags, insurance, the whole shabang. and its been doing it for 2 years, so dont assume its on the verge of falling apart.

if you dont consider the wrx a performance vehicle, why dont u tell us your definition of a performance vehicle?

the camaro i was talking about, 8.2's 1000ft strip, street legal

vega, 8.0's 1000ft strip, street legal

c4 vette, 5.4's 1000ft strip, street driven (i didnt say legal)

all cars i have spent a good deal of time with.

people always assume that you dont know what youre talking about just because u drive an import.

does that guy have a mod plate...?? (the one with the 350 honda or whatever it is)
