Do we have to have serious posts all the time in the Civic forum? It's not like there's a flurry of tech questions to be answered.
This project might provide for some nice discussion on engine and body work. It gives us something to do anyway.

This project is being used to aid everyone if they have questions about engine swaps, exterior and interior mods, and the whole Honda performance idea all together. Hopefully everyone will help out with this project. The car wont really be built, but we can 'cyber' build it as a team of different people with different perspectives on it. It will also be a great reference for anyone new to the scene to see just how things can go. |

Does this guy have some love affair with Civics or something? If he's totally stuck on buying a FWD Honda, then get an Integra GS and build the crap out of it.
You do know, for well under $25,000 your buddy could buy himself an excellent condition FD (3rd gen RX-7) and with the money left over, could build it to put 450+ hp AT THE WHEELS. Personally I'd go with that.. the only reason I'd mod my Civic was if something needed to be replaced (like the suspnsion is the '92 stock suspension still). Really to tell you the truth, it's just not worth it unless you've got some crazy sex appeal to the Civic or something. There's much better options, heck for $25,000 he could find himself a used S2000, or even better, a used NSX. He could spend $10,000 on a '98 Impreza 2.5RS and go crazy with a custom turbo. Could buy a Supra Twin Turbo and... well, I don't need to tell you what he could do with that. Could buy a 5.0 and make some crazy power (although not very good looking). Could buy an FB ('79-'85 RX-7) and get a Street Ported Japanese TurboII motor, custom paint job, easy 300+ hp, and still have $15000 left to spend. Come on guys, I too own a Civic, and I'd like to have it be quick, but unless you want it to be a TOTAL sleeper with 400+hp capable of beating almost anything on the road, then don't waste your money.. there's so much better options out there. But if you want my vote, buy a 5G, B18B, custom internals, turbo ported B18C head, turbo cams (try to get NO intake/exhaust overlap during VTEC), custom intercooled turbo (built by someone who knows what they're doing), 15x7 wheels (Volk Racing if they sell them that small), 225/50/R15 tires (pick a brand, I like Bridgestone Potenza RE950), Tokico Illumina 5-way adjustable shocks, whatever coilovers, front & rear strut tower bars, welded (good) rollcage, fuel cell, and harnesses (for the track). |

Don't forget DSMs.
The FD...what about saving money for when the engine blows? But besides all that, I guess you don't read too well Barwick. If you noticed what CivSiGuy said on page 1, this car won't really be built. Also, this is not the thread to post your ideas on what to do with the car. I believe that was also posted earlier.

OK guys:
HYPO-freakin'-THETICALLY!!!!!! Jon has proposed that we "build" a Civic. That way newbies can read it and just get a basic idea of motor swaps, audio work, and the like. It won't REALLY HAPPEN. It's just something fun we can do to help out newbies!!!!!!!

Look at the very first post of this topic.
As you can see, we are doing this in stages or steps. The first step is to decide which generation of Civic we want. That is covered in the topic "So...which gen?", which you'll probably find somewhere down the page in the Civic forum. After January 6th, we'll move to another question.

I would do what my friend did and buy a salvaged title car, that will save you a lot of money right there. You can pick up a 93-95 body style real cheep with minor damage. Chances are you will be putting a body kit on it, or any other aftermarket parts, so you wont be buying all new oem parts from honda. You can motor swap basically anything into it and I bet you can do everything for under 20,000.
