What's the most miles someone you know ever put on a car?

a friend of mine has a dodge v6 diesel work truck that has been almost all over america. The odometer broke at 500,000 about 5 years ago and he says he has put at least a few hundred thousand more since.

I had a 1984 Dodge Daytona with 163,000 miles before I sold it. My brother owned it before me and beat the shit out of it and didn't take care of it. The people that bought still drive it. After that I owned a 1985 Jeep Wagoneer that lasted 188,000 before the 2.8L Chevy V6 developed some rod knock and I sold it to a junkyard for $50. They dropped in a 4.0L I6 and sold it for $4,500, go figure. My next car, a Chrysler LeBaron GTC had 152,000 on the clock before being totaled in a car accident. I know it could have gone a hell of a lot longer than that.

I know if a guy that has put over 1,000,000 miles on his Dodge Ram with a Cummins and all he has had to replace is a water pump. It is all about how you take care of them. Most any car will last a long time if you just take care of it.

My brother has over 500k on his Volks jetta diesel. I had a '83 Caprice that saw the 0's all over again before I crushed it. My mother's '89 Caprice has well over 350k. And my '91 Caprice has 279k right now and is still running strong.

I have a '81 VW Rabbit Diesel with 306,043 miles as of today. Only thing done was a front motor mount, water pump, engine seale,and other general maintenance things, nothing major. I do all the work myself. Have a '88 volvo 740 gle 212000 miles, This car has an excellant drivetrain (b230f engine) however, If you are going to own a volvo your second car needs to be a wrecker, the hall sensor in the distrubutors are terrible and hard to troubleshoot unless completly failed, the body trim and interior trim just falls away with a little age. The fuel pumps and relays are awful, the disc brakes are really bad....ect...ect...ect.

My girlfriends 1990 Honda Crx Has 298,784 miles on it and it is still running strong. Never Rebuilt.

My friend's Fox Body 5.0 had about 188,000 when it got stolen...no major repairs...

my bro had a 1993 saturn sl2 or sumthin, he boutght it wit idk how many miles on it but drove it for 2 years and beat the crap outa it, 5spd, never replaced anything except motormounts, atleast once a week he would wind that lil motor up so much itd reach the fuel cut out an the engine would shut down. he got rid of it wit 249,000miles on it. he beat the crap outa that thing, he bought it for $500 from people he knew then sold it for $1000 and my rents got him a 1998 jetta gt, also which he beat the crap outa but that was alotta fun, then he traded that in on his new sable whiich is his first automatic and idk how long the tranny whill last

I read in a Motor Trend once about a '94 Accord that was used as a courier car. 130K a year, he replaced the water pump and timing belt once a year as "regular maintenance" and put a clutch in it once in it's life. When it sold it had 1 million and 75 thousand miles or something like that and still ran great. Original exhaust, muffler and all. There was also an OLD Volvo diesel that had just turned over 2 million, it was from 1965 or roundabouts, though...
