Re: Burning Smell

I would like to say that I am with Chris on this one.
You might want to try the May Bach.
I think the LS is great, even with it's minor flaws.

Question

Wife just had the burning smell enter her car at around 70,000. Happend once last week and has not returned. Should I jump on the valve covers gaskets now to keep it from ruining coil paks and such. Or wait and see.

Re: Burning Smell

just one day my engine started smoking a lot, burning oil smoke, then i guess i just burnt it all off and it doesn't smoke much anymore. But in the mornings when i drive to work with the heater on i smell it through the heater; is that normal with this problem? Anyways my wattenty ends in jan so i am going to take advantage. Gonna tell them about my valve covers and tell them i hear a clicking noise in my engine to see if they find something wrong to get it fixed before warranty ends.

My LS V-8 got the burning smell a couple of weeks ago at 40k miles. occurs at stops for redlights and in stop and go traffic. I'm in Chattanooga,TN and temps have been lower than usual. Warranty ran out in Sept. 04. Had complete diagnostics done at that time. I would think head gasket problems at such low mileage is almost impossible without a defect from the manufacturer. Probably one Lincoln won't recognize.

Well its gotta be phantom, cause the wife had the valve cover gaskets replaced back in the summer.
But like you say its below 40 here in NC.

And the dealer said he couldn't find anything last week when she had a module replaced for the traction control lighting up.

Lincoln allows for two After warrantt adjustments, free repairs, I would get it in asap. This is a common issue and with such low miles I don't think you will meet much resistance for the AWA of the work.

Re: Burning Smell

Make sure you do it be fefore you turn 75,000 miles. They won't do an AWA after that...

Re: Burning Smell

Thanks so much. I did notice smoke coming from the right side 2 days
ago and smoke again yesterday from the left. Occured after stoping. I'm taking it in tomorrow as I also got a recall on the trunk through back seat not locking.
