Our tree is on our door.
the 716 is our room number (We live in Carleton Uni Res).
MC is merry Christmas.

This is one of my roommates, who helped build it (pretty much all of us chipped in with the various cans; I like heineken, so, I took a fairly large part of the tree
And the snowflakes were made by a girl on our floor...not us

Re: Re: How big is your tree and what does it look like?

A seven footer, pretty bushy and f*cking heavy as i discovered when carrying it to the car.

I was using the tried and tested "bear hug" technique to carry it when the netting that was wrapped around the tree got caught in a button on my jacket. I couldnt get it undone as if i were to let go of the tree i would have torn the button off my leather jacket. So i sort of pushed the tree up against a wall, holding it up with one arm and using a leg to hold it up, i looked like i was screwing the damned thing against a wall while trying to get the button untangled... i got the funniest looks

thankfully i managed to untangle it and no harm was done to my jacket

Find some thin, ply-woodesque base that is about 8-10" SMALLER than the largest diameter of the bottom branches. It's best to keep the base in a rectangular form for better balance (as opposed to a circle). Screw the bottom "feet" of the fake tree into the board. You'd be amazed at how well it works. The cat may still get your ornaments, but mostly the tree stays up.
Unfortunately, I only have one kitty this year b/c we had to put the older one, Cinder, down. The kitty remaining is too stupid to do much with the tree, and he's pretty old, as well.

New apartment, new tree... 7.5 feet tall. Decided to get a fake tree this year (pre-lit) because we really wanted it in front of the big window, but there is a baseboard heater right there, and I wouldn't want to chance a fire with a real tree...
