Re: How many of you play insturments?

I can plink around at the least on pretty much anything that I can pronounce...not including the Zither or the Scitar. Mostly though, I stick to drums and bass.
Almost made it to Berklee, money issues cut me off the first time. Released a few CDs, the most recent of which was with my band, back in October of 2001. Another CD with re-recorded and new material should be on the way shortly.
In High school, 5 of my 8 classes Senior year were music oriented...M. Appreciation, M. Theory, Swing Choir, Concert Choir, Jazz Band, Marching/Bball Band, Orchestra, and Drum Corp.
I've had dinner with Elvin Jones, and hung out for a few days at PASIC with Morgan Rose and Clint (last name escapes me at the moment) of Sevendust.

Integraboy, do you give lessons? It's a great way to not only spread the artform, but you can learn quite a bit as well.

Re: How many of you play insturments?

Guitar. Been playing (raf counts on his fingers .... takes off shoes to count on toes as well...) about 17 years since I seriously started. I had a couple of lessons from a travelling Californian hippie guy a coupl eof years earlier, but wasn't really into it until I saw The Jimi Hendrix Story - Jimi bent my brain, and I just went "I have to do that!"

I'm ok, I guess. I find it difficult to really comment on my own playing; most people have a much higher opinion of my playing than I do.

Yea, it was one of the requirements for my grade school. Either take band, orchestra, or speech. I wanted to take band, but i was having extremely bad ear problems and the doctor was afraid that band may cause more harm to my ears in the long run. So I took orchestra. It wasn't as bad as it sounds though.

Re: How many of you play insturments?

I dont know how to read music, I learned by playing the Air Drums, to Pearl Jam, and Led Zepplin, soundGarden ETC, I have given some lessons, i just told the kid when u listen to a song, try to block out the Guitar and Vocals and focus on the beat of the drums, I dont think I would ever learn how to read music though

Re: Re: Re: How many of you play insturments?

I consider turntables instruments...they take skill to manipulate into producing music.
Computers, however...Sampling, Computers...Protools...those aren't instruments.
