craziness
The 197HP motor was a 1.6, not a 2.0 (SR16VE-N1).

The SR20VE made between 187HP and 204HP, depending on what year and what car model it was in.

NEO-VVL and VTEC are similar, but not the same.

NEO-VVL can actuate the intake and exhaust cams independently, with two solenoids while VTEC (DOHC only, of course) actuates both cams at the same time with one VTEC solenoid.

NEO-VVL is a true three-stage system, while this is only true with Honda's JDM/EuDM D15B, and the F20C (S2000).

Lastly, i-VTEC is far superior to VTEC, as aside from valve variations, it also has the ability to adjust the car's intake-cam-timing on the fly, maximizing the engines output at every rpm range. Kinda-like an onboard mechanic that tunes your car as you drive. i-VTEC is one of the primary reasons that K20 motors gain so mich from so little. I/H/E/Hondata K20A2 (Type-S) cars are running in the high-13's range.

Hmm, well put and good to know. My understanding was always that even i-VTEC wasn't nearly as good as the VTEC of Integras (B18's) and B16 DOHC motors (or even DOHC F-series motors for that matter, and H's as well), as it's only on the intake side, rather than BOTH intake and exhaust sides like the original VTEC. Of course the original Honda VTEC system is quite an old and dated design compared to Nissan's Neo-VVL and Toyota's VVTi (or whatever the letters are to their VTEC similar system), so naturally they would be a little more refined and modernized. E-VTEC I know is a bit INferior to VTEC though.

K20A2s (RSX-S, DC5 ITR, CTR [200-230HP]) have the VTEC effect on both intake and exhaust cam, while the VTC (the i in i-VTEC), happens on the intake-cam only.

K20A3s (base RSX, 2002+ Civic Si [160HP]) have both VTEC and VTC on the intake-side only.

Ahh yes! Tis the Si's K20A3 motor that I was thinking of for the intake side only VTEC.

Makes you wonder though why they don't have the VTC on both sides. Anywho, thanks for clearing that up.

Think again.

Variable-valve Timing Electronic-lift Control

Not enough to "band" you over, so don't sweat it.

ok, before this turns into a flame war, im going to warn u both (and before carnuttt does the same.) we DON'T simply make fun of someones car. it is not tolerated on here, and i understand u guys are newbies (somewut), but u need to read the guidelines more.

poking fun at one another is fine, but if ur going to make it personal, take it to pm's...don't highjack someone's thread to settle personal issues between one another.

btw...welcome to the boards guys, not tryin to be a dick...jus forewarning before u get into bad habits is all.
