Sometimes, it depends on what you begin to draw your car from. I draw most of my cars starting with the wheels first, then the wheel arches, from there I look at the placement of the wheels and draw light lines (like guide lines) to capture the countours of the car. Then fill in the front headlight or the bumper. and go from there. Draw part by part as they're attached. That maybe the wrong method for some, but it works for me. But if what you are doing looks difficult, leave it alone, and try something simpler. Nothing wrong with that. I was drawing cars from the side till 7th grade. I was then surprized how well I can draw cars from 3/4th view and so on. Good luck. MALIX |

Ive got a couple things to say. that second drawing of yours is awesome. you're awesome on the shading and contouring of the car. thats something i need to get better with.
1st im wondering, what is the key to getting that low vertical angle. my drawings always seem to show a view from to high up, getting the roof into things whuch looks crappy. any tips would be awesome, i'll try and post some of my work sometime. 2nd to that beginner trying to learn to draw cars well i have some advice aswell. i started getting into drawing carsjust a few weeks ago. i was one of those people who wished i could draw well, but never found anyhitng that i enjoyed drawing ebough to practice and get good at. then i found this site. cars. --dont start out by trying to draw a 1999 honda civic lowered 3in. with ground effects body kit and 18" lowenhart rims. ya dig? draw a little, ugly, boxy, generic car. do a few of these, and make some more rounded ones, make some bigger ones, make something distinctive like a 3 series beamer or something. its all a big progression, dont rush, you'll amaze yourself. i'll try and get some pics up of the progression i made. holla back. |

Re: D-sift Trueno!!!!
Hey, I agree with 79VW. I would start out with something small, boxy and ugly, then a bubbly car, then a boxy/bubbly german sports sedan (ie: 3 series, 7 series, shit like that) then a Honda civic lowered 3 inches with a ground effects body kit and 18" lowenheart rims! LOL, but really, then maybe a supercar or something complex, then start shading. It doesn't have to be perfect right away, just gradually work your way into it. I will get scanned some of my shading progresses over the months to show you the difference! Also, start with pencil shading, not colour. It is forgiving. It can be erased over and over until you get it right, or you eraser is no more than a stub, whichever comes first. I made that mistake, fortunately, it didn't cost me. God, I just finished my hardest peice yet, a full shaded, full backgroung Koensigge(Spelling) CC 8S. I gotta get that scanned for you guys to look on in awe at! Any way, I hope this helped at least a little.
Ps, what Malix said was good too.
