Re: Favorite drinks for the seasons

OK. Every GOOD coffee is made starting with a base shot of Espresso. This is made with quality beans and BOILING water. Then topped with whatever - steamed milk, frothed milk cafe latte, flat white etc.

Whereas the c@rp I choked down while in the States was either percolater or dripolater. Good coffee is NOT made by passing lukewarm water through average beans. Yick. And then there was Starchucks which I don't think I need to go into.

It is entirely possible there's some decent coffee out there, I just never found it or heard of it. Good luck in your search...

In case you didn't know, you have a worldwide reputation as producers/consumers of the worst coffee.

Re: Favorite drinks for the seasons

I don’t really drink much, but if I do I usually have a white wine or if I’m somewhere that makes them, a Cosmopolitan.

The Hard Rock Café in Sydney also makes an awesome drink called Shark Repellent (Midori, Bacardi, Vodka, Triple Sec, blue curacao and sprite). It’s one awesome drink served in an enormous glass. A couple of those and I’m told my eyes cross!

Re: Favorite drinks for the seasons

Coffee - should be made with an espresso machine to ensure consistency. It should be as dry as possible ie no more than 25ml of water for 30ml of very finely ground coffee. The temperature should be 97.3 degrees centigrade for perfect krema (the foam) and accompanied only by a glass of still chilled mineral water.

It's best to make coffee from distilled water as it reduces the need to decalcify the espresso machine. And I prefer a darker roast (but not burnt like so many norty 'mericans prefer with a high content of beans from Sumatra).

SUMMER
Rum Based:
Mojito (made with Havana Club Anejo Reserva), Mai Tai, Mango Daiquiris

Vodka Based:
Dry Vodka Martini preferably with SKYY or Branvin, Moscow Mule or the Viaduct Mule (made with a muddled Feijoa and 42 Below), Absolut Passion (Passionfruit instilled Vodka)

Gin Based:
International

Beer:
1664, Monteiths Summer Ale, Asahi, Sapporo

WINTER
Jagermeister, South Australian Shiraz,
Laphraiog, Oban, Lagavulin (peaty single malts), VLS

Beer:
Becks, Lowenbrau, Leffe Brune

ALL SEASONS

Single Malt:
Glenmorangie (10, 18 yr or Sherry Finish), Balvenie, Macallan 10 yr

Tequila:
Patron Gold Anejo, 1800, Grand Centenario

Well someone asked the question...
