This intake works well and yes, it is a high velocity intake. But in order to understand how it works you will at least need a basic understanding of fluid dynamics. If you had say a tube and a funnel with a 30 degree angle on it and they were both the same diamiter at the ends and you sucked the same mount of air through each one wich one will have more velocity? Neither, they will both have the exact same velocity because they have the same amount of vacume. Now if we take these same models and the same amount of vacume and put K&N filter on them, one has a 2.5" fitting and the other "Cone style tube" has a 3.5 inch fitting and a bigger filter on it wich one will have more velocity? The cone, why? Because the filter has less surface tension (Basicaly the Vacume "Engine" doesent have to fight with the filter for air) This is how ALL high flow intakes work, the larger the filter the more power you get (To an extent of course)
When you pull air through a bent tube the air pressure keeps to the inside of the bend, it doesent curve with the whole tube, therefore the longer and smoother the bends are the shorter the air has to travel to reach its point of vacume (Your combustion chamber) so, in conclusion I see this intake as a verry well thought out design and like I said, if I were to design one it would look close to this.
Seth.

dude, there could be an intake that added 100 hp but if it looks like the tops of two 2 litters stuck together then its retarded. But if you like thats cool. its your car. just doesn't tickle my pickle

Ah, I see. So its retarded because it does a good job doing what it was soposed to be doing. You obvisouly havent seen my car, the last thing I am conserned about is how it looks. All I care about is 13.0 1/4 and hitting that goal, if I have to put a four foot scoop with a wing on my hood to get this time then it will be done as soon as I can afford it. So I am all about function, not how pretty something is to look at. I meen hell, if I realy cared how pretty my engine was I would have never put hy cyl head on and just pushed the car around so everyone could see my $500 pistons and look at the mirror finish in my combustion chambers.
BTW, do you own altezza's a big wing 17" or larger rims or a 900lb stereo system?
Seth.

Re: Re: Re: Think this will fit?

but u'd still probably get more air in ur car using a cai rather than a modified short ram intake

not entirely true. colder air yes, not exactly more air. if the CAI has to bend a buncha times, then thats gonna restrict flow. and that negates the effect of having colder and denser air. im curious, i think hondabond should get it, and run his car with that, a normal shortram, and a CAI on it.

anyone else notice that the blaster coil isnt hooked up in that picture?

thermodynamics doesn't mean bigger better, the aem and dc cai spiral the air so that the air so that it flows faster, in addition the bends are enginered to go w/ the spiral to limit the resistance. seccond of all no cold air, wtf is the hp gains w/ out cold air (please respond i am genuinely curious of the gains), imo your not going to get any more performance from a larger intake unless you have an added force putting that air into the larger end and this one deadends in the engine bay, mabey if it scooped up the air from out of the engine bay. but i say this is my OPENION i claim no facts about the scoop thingie.

plus hondabond, why do you always have to attack the personality of those who don't agree with you, you need to chill.

ps. i mostly respect the mustang tuners of pre 1980 mustangs.
