Re: Re: Re: Re: '69 Camaro 'RS by revell

I've got a little curious itch that I need to scratch. I've been lookin' to build a Camaro of this vintage 'cause they are just so awesome. So I went to Revell's site and checked out their '69 Camaros, and they all have the 3 little chrome bits right where your pretty round headlights are. I don't really know much about Camaros (ie: nothing) so... yeah. What's the skinny on your headlights? Are they aftermarket or is there a Revell kit I just missed? Hate to copy you, but given the choice, I'd rather two nice round headlights than chrome trim. If this is just the most amazingly stupid question you've ever been asked, well, answer before making fun of me....

Oh yeah, and since it came up, I'd stick with the rims it came with. They're so well suited to the car... why mess with it?

I was thinking about buying special modeling engine wires to wire the engine, or it's too late to do that at this stage of completion?

Just some Basic 1969 Camaro Grille/headlight info...
The round (bugeye) lights is the standard grille used in the 69 Camaro, but if you added the RS pakage to your car, you would get a new grille, headlight covers, chrome wheel well mouldings, and other cosmetic pieces. You can basically have any model of the Camaro w/ the round lights, either an SS, Z/28, etc. Not to bored you guys.. this is just some information to keep in mind on this model's build. Personally, I prefer the standard grille.

Vyacheslav, you can any amount of detail to your engine, even at this stage... you may have to do some 'touch-ups' though...

Yep I also have that other grill. I don't like the way it looks on the kit. It looks pretty flat if you will.

Special wires in my hobby shop for 4 bucks. I am not sure about the color though. Red or blue?

Blue, they will contrast more with the red engine and red firewall. Still looking great by the way :

Very good point!

Just remember, don't rush the wiring... are you using a pin vice to drill the holes in the spark plug locations? Give a look here: Model Car Tech: Engine Wiring References for info on location... look under Small Block Chevy V-8.

Thanks Honoturtle, that's just what I was looking for. I'm pretty much guessing that all the Revell kits come with both grills then, which will be nice. I didn't want to go get the kit, and then never build it because the front end wasn't what I wanted.

You're model is coming along nicely, Vyacheslav, looks great! I am watching your build carefully, I'll let you find all the problems first.... And go ahead and put in the wires, they aren't very hard and make the model look way better. Have you thought about maybe getting a prewired distributor? It's a little more costly, but I always hated drilling out the distributor, talk about a pain. Anyway, lookin' sweet! Keep it up.
