I used the "Search this forum" link on the main page and searched "Caption Contest" - something to try next time.

You know I hate dumbass people and calling this car "Ricey" is by far the most dumbest thing i've ever heard.

And here I am, I dream about just being able to see this car in real life cuz there is no way in hell I can ever afford one. I just want to look at it, and then there are those Fuc#ing idiots who got to see this car.....and called this car "Ricey"...WTF!!!!!!

If I was near a person who called this car "Ricey" I would've smacked the shit out of them.....and told them to leave before something else happens to them.

I JUST WANT TO LOOK AT THE CAR....BUT NOTHING EVER COMES TO SACRAMENTO....SORRY ASS CITY!!!!

About those idiots...

I think the Turner Motorsports crew should take a few copies of the 1996 CAR Magazine article, where Andy Wallace shattered the existing 0-100-0 acceleration test at the wheel of XP1 LM, with them everywhere they go. Then people might get a better idea of the potential of the car.

Or, if they continue to act like idiots, a rolled up magazine is the perfect weapon for smacking someone upside the head.

I think about half of the regular posters here have seen at least one F1. There are no actual owners that participate here unless they are hiding their identities. You may be thinking that drewwtms is an owner, but I think you need to read the posts on the 2nd & 3rd pages of the "New Toy (literally)" thread to get a better idea of his connection to the actual owner of those cars.

We have about 10 McLarens in California, with the largest cluster being right near you in the cities of Woodside, and Los Gatos and the surrounding area. A few of the cars even see some time on the street up there including Larry Ellison's, Larry Blair's, and Seth Neiman's so your chances of seeing one are better than most people's.

Down here near LA there are approximately 3 cars, possibly a 4th. Jay Leno has one of them, another (the F1 road car I saw) belongs to Elon Musk, and a third car belongs to Peter Manelis though his car has only been seen in the Newport Beach/Laguna Beach areas. The fourth car belongs to Wyclef Jean - the Fugees rapper turned producer - but I believe his car stays on the East Coast. Also Ralph Lauren is an owner of two F1's and I'm sure he has homes here on the West Coast, but the one siting of his cars that I have found was in New York.

Anyway - your time will come I'm sure. If I ever find out about an F1 that is on display near you I'll be sure to post about it in here so keep looking.

Thanx Peloton25. Wow....I didn't know California had so many F1s. I only knew about 2...but none in Cali. One was in Florida...I read in DuPont Mag and the other is of course Wyclef Jean...even though his has spider man interior....I love the car but Spider MAn????

I have another question....how do you know the names of almost all of the people who have McLarens???

That's easy. Either people own a McLaren or they don't. When Peloton asks people, they tell him if they don't own one. He then crosses them off his list. After he's asked everyone, he's left with a list of people who own one. You can do it too.

Actually tvrfreak, that's the way it used to work. It was a pretty good system, but it was very time consuming.

Now what happens is when someone buys a McLaren, the McLaren Cars factory provides them with my email address and a quick form to fill out which includes their name, occupation, location and then the basic information about their F1 like color, chassis number and purchase price. (purchase price is an optional field)

It's a much better system now - it helps keep the records updated in a timely manner and avoids the confusion with all those 13 year olds out there who come on an internet forum and claim that they own three of them.

= = = = =

I assume you are detecting the sarcasm here NarutoRamen...

Basically, I get my information the same way anyone else might - a lot of detective work, a lot of reading and searching for new info, a lot of emails to people who claim to have seen one or know an owner or to people who have posted photos, and then even more information is gained from participating here. I think this is the largest group of focused McLaren F1 enthusiasts on the web and we do a pretty good job of keeping up on the latest info. It's really surprising to a lot of people (owners included) just how much information is available on the web. I use a multitude of search engines to find the next piece of the puzzle and I cross reference it with info that I already know to be accurate. I would go so far as to call it a hobby.

One benefit that I have, is that I have been doing it for so long, and also sharing the info I have with others so often, that in some cases random people come directly to me to share what they have heard or what they know without me even asking. That's how I learned the owners name for the F1 which was displayed in the Shelton Ferrari showroom. I sometimes wish it always came easy like that, but I do enjoy the hunt. There's definitely a lot that remains a mystery too - but I'll keep pursuing the most accurate information available and hope for the best.

[quoteI think this is the largest group of focused McLaren F1 enthusiasts on the web [/quote]Also some of the brightest, and most level headed =)

Appreciating the car for what it is, and not constantly getting into arguments about which car is better than which, is another good thing =)
