it corrodes. Different than rust. Rust only affects iron (which is also in steel) Different chemical reaction.

good answer! koojo, it's brake dust not rust from your aluminum. take it from these guys, they know chemistry.
never called aluminum's corrosion 'rust' so wasn't too sure how to call it. 'oxidation.' heheeh.
