so with the WOT switch, if you start off right by slammin on the gas, it'll trigger the nitrous? damn, you'd have to get used to timing that right then

Travis's car is crazy fast. Don't know why some of you have issues with nitrous but in all reality its the most horsepower for the dollar. He has a built engine and if he wants he can go direct port with a progressive nitrous controler and run a 150 shot no problem.

For those of you that say go turbo i can tell you've never had one. The reason is because if you want to get 75-125 horses out of a turbo you must change a lot of stuff, meaning it takes away from daily driveabilty. I know when i had mine it ran good (no exhaust leaks/piping leaks, etc) about one day a week. Nitrous doesn't take away from the daily driving aspect because nothing else is changed to the car when the nitrous isn't engaged.

In that case, 2 stage nitrous kits are handy, sprays a small shot and the opens to a full shot.

for example, will spray 35-40hp till a certain gear or rpm and then spray a full 100 shot.

Ive seen muscle cars at the track with that

NOS MAKES YA GO WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.!!!!!!!!

But for a stock engine anyway, wouldnt a 35 or 50 hp shot be ok?
I've never used nitrous, but i figure most people get in trouble because it is so easy to increase the hp, and they just keep doing that until their engine blows.
I mean if your car has 100 hp stock, adding a 50 shot of nitrous is going to make a huge difference, and wont hurt your engine too much as long as you can hold off on upping the power.
Im new to this so I dont know if anything i just said is correct....

generally nitrous on stock internals is a bad idea.

About how long does one of them big bottles last anyways?

ok with either a one or two stage, can you have a switch that allows you to run no nitrous at all?

Its one of the best HP for $ mods you can do.. I think nitrous is totally cool for that. I planned on buying some forever when I got my B16, then it came time to go pick the kit up and I changed my mind at the last minute because its pretty unsafe to have in the car. I would have hated to get in an accident and have my bottle blow up and hurt my girlfriend or some of my friends. No compressed gas in my trunk please and thank you.

I thought about doing it for just the track, but I'd want the bottle in all the time, and its just such a saftey hazard that its not really worth it to me.

yeah, what optimuspeterson said!!!

Yes i can give it full throttle and not have the the nos spray. there are TWO (2) switches involved with activcating the nitrious. ONE (1) is the main arming switch, this is what turns the main system on. Then once the arming switch is on, TWO (2), the WOT switch will be active and as soon as it is hit, the nitrious sprays.

My ZC is built and it able to take this no problem. On stock internals it would be okay as long as you didnt go above the reccommended 35 shot. Even then it would be scary.

As soon as i get some more time, i'm going to order/buy some colder spark plugs to further safeguard my engine from damage.

so you are saying my stock internal sohc zc could theroetically take a 35 shot of nitrous no problem?

how much does the entire kit go for usually?

yes. the base kit, is about $500-$600 then it is reccommened that you get a purge valve, blow down tube, bottle heater, and fuel psi cut-off switch. NX sell all that in a kit called the Gen 2 kit, its about $300-$400. I got the NX kit. the only reason i got Nitrious is cause i got well over $1000 worth of NX parts, brand new in the box for only $600. So i got an awesome deal.

alot of people put Nitrious on there stock internals. It's not the greatest thing for a stock engine, but it is proven and GUARANTEED if used right to not hurt your car. The problem is that kids hook it up and go..... they dont take the time to read the do's and don'ts. if your thinking about getting it, i recommened doing soem research first, and call and talk to a NX guy and ask him what they think, they are the experts.

That's killer. With even a little work on that ZC, you're prolly at 150 (being conservative) and another 75 on top is 225 minimum. Try getting that out of $1000 on any other set of mods, and still have it totally driveable! Good call on where to put your money!
