Don't worry about it. My kids are 3 and 5 and I get to do a lot of modeling. The trick is finding a good, portable toolbox to carry your stuff around in. I do my models on the kitchen table now and I can clean up my stuff in less than 2 minutes when the space is needed. My original model table hasn't seen any use in years and I don't miss it one bit.
